In the Formation section in the infobox, I suggest adding the Élysée Accords (8 March 1949) with the name "End of the French protectorate", as the 9th event below the "Declaration of Independence" event. The Élysée Accords was an important event in Vietnamese history, after this treaty, the French protectorate (colonial regime) in Vietnam was officially abolished.[1] Of course, Vietnam was de facto not completely independent from France at that time as Vietnam was only associated state, but at least France recognized the abolition of the protectorate in Vietnam. Anyway, the Élysée Accords was important in Vietnamese history. In fact Vietnam gained full independence from France on 4 June 1954 but not in the Geneva Conference on 21 July 1954.[2][3] Again, I think we need to add the Élysée Accords. 58.186.77.50 (talk) 02:16, 14 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Fixer09 (talk) 20:58, 8 March 2025 (UTC) (sock strike)[reply]
Fixer09 If this is a sock strike, why did you not change the "answered=no" into "answered=yes"? Is it so that the edit request could still be valid, but you don't want to do it? Or, did you simply forget it? Lova Falk (talk) 11:59, 15 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not done Hi AlbinoFlea! This dissertation is way too specialized to deserve a place in a general article like Vietnam. In case we have an article about religion in Vietnam, the dissertation might have a place there. Friendly, Lova Falk (talk) 10:06, 20 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Lova Falk! To be clear I don't have an opinion on the relevance of this work; it is already linked from the article in the Further Reading section. If you want to remove it that's fine, but I was only pointing out that the link has changed. Thanks! AlbinoFlea (talk) 18:47, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi AlbinoFlea! Thank you for telling me. Yes, I will remove the link. Lova Falk (talk) 19:27, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The missing GINI citations and new information dated 2022. The current GINI is from 2020 or inaccurate and citationless. There are citations with GINI information but are currently unused references in the article. Here are some sources showing current GINI with the accurate number 36.1 in contrast to the current 36.8, so if it could be added/corrected, that'd be great.

Vietnam (State of Vietnam, an associated state established in 1949) was recognized by France as a fully independent country on 4 June 1954, one month before the First Indochina War ended and Vietnam was divided by the Geneva Accords in July. I hope this important information will be added to the infobox and history section of the article. Here is sources:[1][2][3] 101.99.14.208 (talk) 17:27, 1 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

At least I hope to add this event in the events section of the infobox, below the declaration of independence event and above the division of North and South event. 14.162.161.100 (talk) 03:04, 13 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed Islands in Vietnam and China

[edit]

The Paracel Islands and several Spratly Islands are still illegally occupied by China, but these five countries, including the Philippines, Malaysia, Brunei, China, and Vietnam, are all disputing China's islands. Muhammad Ortega (talk) 05:48, 15 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
