A barnstar for you

For your extensive, long term, and ongoing work on legal articles, especially to improving existing stubs and articles. Bearian (talk) 22:33, 9 May 2025 (UTC) |
- I was very confused when I saw this on my watchlist. Then I realised that Bearian ≠ Bearcat; it's not self-barnstar awarding, it's just a conspiracy of bears. Guettarda (talk) 23:30, 9 May 2025 (UTC)

Request protection from vandalism
[edit]Hi Bearcat, how are you? I'm just dropping if you can look into the vandalism history of Alden Richards (actor) page, some people have been changing a single word on his name or surname and adding unwanted category or incorrect information without sources or referrences. I'm one of those frequent contributors, i have been seeing this vandalism have been going on for months now. Will you please help me secure and protect the page?
By the way, thank you for your advice. I appreciate your help .--Fanblade81 (talk) 14:40, 15 May 2025 (UTC)
Hi Bearcat, this article, for some reason, has been semi-protected by you in 2011 due to apparent vandalism. Perhaps it's time to unprotect it now that 14 years have past? The article isn't really edited much (there have been only 21 edits since the article was protected), and has seen a measly 2,495 views in the past year (see here), so I doubt this is gonna be the target of a lot of disruption. AWB no categories
[edit]Hey Bearcat, it looks like you marked SwissP Defence as uncategorized [1]. The article had some categories, but had an "X" before "Category" – presumably this is some kind of workaround for draft categories. This was then fixed by @PichPich [2]. I don't know much about AWB, but would it be possible for AWB to recognize this and remove the "X" instead of tagging as uncategorized? That would've saved some steps in this case. Toadspike [Talk] 12:01, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- Dangit, meant to ping @Pichpich. Toadspike [Talk] 12:02, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- It's not a common workaround so including it in AWB is not really worth it. Pichpich (talk) 13:56, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks. As I said, I don't know much about AWB. No-one did anything wrong in this case and the error got quickly fixed, so unless it's easy to include I understand if it's not worth it. Toadspike [Talk] 14:05, 23 May 2025 (UTC)

- That's not how things work. Your user talk page cannot be in categories, and there is absolutely no requirement that categories have to be left on it, and merely "commented out", instead of being removed outright. Bearcat (talk) 03:12, 2 June 2025 (UTC)
A cup of tea for you!

For a valid nomination at MFD. If you look over the recent history, you will see too many nominations that are either of three types of timesinks, either nominations of useless pages that waste time in even being discussed, or disputes about useful essays, or an effort to use MFD to resolve a conduct dispute. I don't know what the galleries are supposed to be, but they can go into the bit bucket. Robert McClenon (talk) 16:00, 2 June 2025 (UTC) |

C'mon
[edit]There is absolutely no need to bite a new user, who is as a result confused and concerned, as you did here. This is the first time you are telling this user (excluding through edit summaries, whose reading is not a given). You could, as I suggested above, replace mainspace cats with their draft substitutes, like category:drafts about writers. JayCubby 23:10, 3 June 2025 (UTC)

"redlinked" category in Georgia (country).
[edit]You removed the Category:Eastern European countries in Georgia (country), stating that redlinks are not permitted. I have 2 things to say about your edit. 1. It would be better if you let it stay there and let someone make the redlink work, for example, by creating the page. Or, you could have fixed it yourself alternatively. 2. I don't understand why the category "Eastern European countries" is a red link:https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Eastern_European_countries <- this exists. Am I linking the wrong thing, or is my format wrong? KoroRush (talk) 14:51, 11 June 2025 (UTC)

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sambalut until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article until the discussion has finished.Bearian (talk) 16:07, 11 June 2025 (UTC)
