There was nothing in principle wrong with your edit, indeed you are encouraged to WP:Be bold. But for sensitive subjects (and local football teams are very sensitive, as I've learnt to my cost) it is best to use the talk page to explain what you propose to do and why you propose to do it, wait a bit^[a] and then implement the consensus view (which could mean you drop the idea). Silence signifies assent: no complaints means go right ahead.

So I have proposed a threshold for what counts as "major", please add your two cents worth. Who knows, the answer may turn out to be exactly the change you made in the first place. --𝕁𝕄𝔽 (talk)

Ah, OK, that's fair enough. Thanks for the advice, there's certainly more to this than I initially thought when I made what was a suggested edit, especially with Wikipedia actually prompting me to shorten the list, that nobody would mind, but it's important to take everyone's views into consideration and that's fair enough.

Once again, thanks for your advice, and I'll be sure to think of that in the future before making any edits.

Of course if you had picked something obscure, it is most unlikely that anyone would object. And if they do, then no problem as that's the way that Wikipedia works – see WP:Bold, revert, discuss. I have just now done a very bold edit to Lunar calendar and I will have no problem if someone reverts my edit and wants to discuss.
