DYK for Technical geography
[edit]On 23 June 2025, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Technical geography, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that technical geography, which studies the application of computer cartography and remote sensing, has origins in Greco-Roman and medieval Islamic cartography? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Technical geography. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Technical geography), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

A message from Ionel.Haidu
[edit]Dear GeogSage. I read with interest and pleasure your contribution about Technical Geography. I think you did well because you have included Technical Geography in the history of Geography. Only in this way is it better understood what Technical Geography is. I gladly recommend this page to my students and collaborators. Regarding the future of Geography as a science, I affirm that Geography, let's say "classical" or "non-technical", will no longer be able to be separated from the process of "technification". I wrote an article, in this sense, GEOGRAPHY'S FUTURE IS TECHNICAL, Geographia Technica, Vol. 19, Issue 2, 2024, pp i to vi, DOI: 10.21163/GT_2024.192.23, https://www.technicalgeography.org/pdf/2_2024/00_haidu.pdf .
