Kauri dieback in NZ

[edit]

hi, was just reading up on your page for the Waitakere Ranges. Kauri dieback is caused by a fungus (Phytophthora agathidicida), not a bacteria as reported. Regards, Jim 49.224.203.166 (talk) 04:58, 29 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, they're oomycetes (water moulds), which are distinct from fungi. I've changed Waitākere Ranges.-Gadfium (talk) 05:09, 29 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't written anything in that article before but I thank you for the feedback and I thank Gadfium for the fix. ―Panamitsu (talk) 05:22, 29 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Medway Street footbridge

[edit]

On 3 June 2025, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Medway Street footbridge, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that after the Medway Street footbridge had become twisted (pictured) in the 2010 Canterbury earthquake, part of it was turned into a memorial? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Medway Street footbridge. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Medway Street footbridge), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Thanks! I hope it filled your brain with the strength to keep going! - OpalYosutebitotalk』 『articles I want to eat18:28, 3 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Inspired by your comment, I'm thinking about creating a New Zealand version of this template -- "A pavlova for you!" ―Panamitsu (talk) 22:08, 3 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Wikischedule block message

[edit]

How we can integrate your Wikischedule block message into MediaWiki as one of "can't edit" notices? CreatorTheWikipedian2009 (talk) 14:01, 6 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

What are these "can't edit" notices? I've never heard of them before. Sounds like it might be a good idea. Do you mean the ones that prevent people from editing after being blocked? ―Panamitsu (talk) 22:28, 6 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. Just read Help:MediaWiki namespace. They call them "system messages". CreatorTheWikipedian2009 (talk) 08:44, 7 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting. Not sure how to do that. Do you know? ―Panamitsu (talk) 09:31, 7 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No. This might need administrators/interface administrators or interface editors for some intervention. CreatorTheWikipedian2009 (talk) 10:12, 7 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
In that case I think the current Wikischedule block message does the trick. Working on the script is a low priority for me right now because I no longer have a problem with spending too much time on Wikipedia. ―Panamitsu (talk) 10:38, 7 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. CreatorTheWikipedian2009 (talk) 11:23, 7 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the idea anyhow. ―Panamitsu (talk) 11:29, 7 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/December 2011 Christchurch earthquakes. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, December 2011 Christchurch earthquakes), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed.
