Hey Curb Safe Charmer, thank you for the welcome! I am currently just trying to clarify some confusing information regarding how Future Guernsey and Forward Guernsey relate to each other. There was a redirect that was causing confusion since they're actually separate legal entities.
As a local resident, I have noticed none of Guernsey political articles on here are fully up to date or accurate here. I've also submitted a draft about Carl Meerveld and I plan to do more of our local politicians. Appreciate the Channel Islands editing community here! RolloUnden (talk) 16:56, 9 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Your skills will be useful here. Rollo.
When writing about politicians, take a look at WP:POLITICIAN - there is a grey area for the Channel Islands on whether coverage in the Guernsey Press or Jersey Evening Post constitutes local or national coverage. Therefore, I suggest you limit articles to senior politicians who have had a lot of coverage, to avoid drafts being declined.
Just one thing, given what you do for a living, please be aware of the restrictions around WP:PAID editing. If I was you, in anticipation of other editors being unsure of whether you are being paid by any of the subjects of your articles, you might want to add statement to your user page to the effect of "I am aware of the restrictions around WP:PAID editing and if in future I edit any articles on behalf of clients I will be sure to disclose it here." Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 21:14, 9 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Absolutely. I am aware of Wikipedia's policies around WP:Paid and WP:Conflict and I appreciate the clarity on Guernsey Press, I wasn't aware of that.
I do wanna make it very clear I have zero financial relationships with any politicians in Guernsey or people working for the States of Guernsey. I do know most if not all of them from when I used to host a podcast in school in when I was like 15 (around 2016-2017) but in terms of active or paid relationships. I have zero.
In regards to seniority and notability the two politicians I made pages for have been active sitting members since 2016 both taking senior positions and leading committees as well as serving atleast 2 terms in [States of Guernsey] which on the States of Guernsey Wiki page they were already linked with missing pages.
As well there was some pretty clear abuses and so I felt there was a lack of honest and useful coverage here. Thats why I felt compelled to make these edits.
Specifically things like Future Guernseys page being redirected to the party which is Forward Guernsey. I spoke to Gavin yesterday at the Beau Sejour meet the candidates event and it was explained to me that these were entirely separate things essentially designed to confuse the public.
In regards to what I do for a living. The industries which I operate in are not related to any of the work I have done or plan to do on Wikipedia. If I do make edits for any clients I will make it clear.
I much appreciate your warnings however Curb Safe Charmer and will make edits to my user profile to make all of this more clear. RolloUnden (talk) 23:04, 9 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
