Copyright investigations (manual article tagging)
[edit]- Hasan Ali Khan (history · last edit) from multiple sources, adding sources to talk page to facilitate clean up. —SpacemanSpiff 06:40, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
- I removed text from one source given on the talk page added here by User:Isbestan. There is still a substantial copyvio problem though. User:Bugnot added a lot of copyrighted text over a substantial period. In December 2009, his expansion of the article was reverted due to copyvio problems and reverted by another editor for invalid reasons (see talk). One source from that period is here and text from it remains in the article. After December 2009, Bugnot continued to add copyvios to the article. I think the best course of action is to stub this article and give it a clean start. I did notify the main contributor though, as they were not.--NortyNort (Holla) 11:10, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
Article cleaned by investigator or others. No remaining infringement. So done. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 18:26, 10 July 2011 (UTC)
- 415 Records (history · last edit) from [1]
- Article originally submitted 7/23/2004,by 132.216.90.117, in substantially the same form
- Revision as of 11:14, June 3, 2006 24.18.153.100 edits with edit summary: update his own bio and the label's first releases. Based on what's updated n the post, that's Christopher Knab
- http://www.psych.mcgill.ca/levitin/415.html Daniel Levitan's site last updated 7/24/2006 (per access today, noted at bottom of his page)
- User talk:Certain points out plagiarism by placing a first line in the article, linking to the source of the plagiarism. 10:42, February 9, 2007
- User:DanielLevitin/User talk:DanielLevitin 7:34 pm, 25 February 2007, posts a note on the talk page that it's ok to use his article??
- Revision as of 19:57, May 17, 2008User:Westtester/User talk:Westtester removes that warning, and replaces it with a bogus citation to an Allmusic page (still titled as the title of the copied page) which is later corrected by a bot to <ref name="415 history">{{cite web|url{{Allmusic|class=album|id=r28789|pure_url=yes}}|title=A Brief History of 415 Records |accessdate=2008-05-17}}</ref>,(still titled with the copied page) but which is the Jane Aire & the Belvederes page @ All Music Guide, and which is unconnected to this label.
- Today: I went looking for information on Sandy Pearlman, in connection with World Entertainment War, an article I'm editing; found link to this page; read it; made a small improvement; checked the 2 existing cites for more possible improvement: [2] & the one noted above (AMG), and found heeeey...that's not AMG & that's the entire text of the site, instead, with tiny changes & wikifications over the course of seven years. (I googled the citation title, A Brief History of 415 Records (only), to find the page) copied.
- I don't have the diplomatic or policy background to proceed further, so maybe you could help.
I would be willing to rewrite the page completely, if that's desired,I have rewritten the page, as suggested, on the talk/temp page provided for that purpose, using the two available sources andpresumeablyothers, and improved some of the wikilinked pages too, as I went along. Please advise. duff 08:11, 26 June 2011 (UTC) - I left the usertalkpage messages, as suggested, at the original submitter's IP address talkpage, as well as at DanielLevitin's & Westtester's. I also left one for User Talk:Binksternet, who removed the template from the page; after I had posted about it here, placed the template there, & begun posting those messages as instructed. I restored the template, and if I've missed something important here, please allow me to apologize ahead of time for any oversight I may have made and know that I always welcome further enlightenment. Thanks again. duff 10:04, 26 June 2011 (UTC)

- Nagaland (history · last edit) from multiple sources including http://cdpsindia.org/nagaland_insurgency.asp. Note: I'm bringing this here for handling of multi-source, multi-edit copyvio. —SpacemanSpiff 12:42, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
- I removed text from the given source. This source looks suspicious but when added to the article, it was different from the site which only archives back to 2006. This site is suspicious as well but contains no archives. There are differences in the article and the text, when inserted here and here amongst edits in a similar period. The Orissa article also has similar text from this site as well.--NortyNort (Holla) 11:58, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
Cleaned. Re: this source, I was not able to find book or text matches from the time of insertion. With respect to [3], we had some of the content earlier before it evolved towards what they have; backwardscopy for that one (and another) placed at the talk page. I've restored what's left of the content and have tried some spot-checking myself, but I haven't found any other sources. That said, I'm really uncomfortable with the text; there's some major red flags. I'm almost tempted to place a {{cv-unsure}} at the page, and I really hardly ever do that. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:43, 10 July 2011 (UTC)
- Tourism technology (history · last edit) from http://english.visitkorea.or.kr/enu/FU/FU_EN_15.jsp?cid=289722 and http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2008-06/udg-sdc062008.php (this second source may be a mirror of http://prensa.ugr.es/prensa/research/verNota/prensa.php?nota=530, which doesn't work for me). Article cleaned, still needs a history purge to remove original copyvio. Text from Korean source in initial article revision, text from the other source added on 8 July 2008 --NortyNort (Holla) 11:28, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
Purged. Copyright problem removed from history. --January (talk) 18:44, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
