Wikipedia:Pages needing translation into English
See also: Wikipedia:Translation into English, Category:Pages needing translation
This page is a place to list foreign language articles on the English Wikipedia, to see if they can be translated before they are listed on Wikipedia:Votes for deletion. If someone speaks the language the article is written in and can state that it is not worth translating, the item should be moved to VfD.
If the article is a mere copy of (all or part of) an article in a foreign-language Wikipedia, it can just get added to Wikipedia:Candidates for speedy deletion: we want to discourage people who cut articles from one Wikipedia and paste to another without translating. If the intent is to ask for a translation, the correct place to do that is Wikipedia:Translation into English.

If an article has been listed here for two weeks and is still untranslated, it should be moved to VfD. When moving items to VfD, the boilerplate text on the article should be changed from {{notenglish}} to {{subst:vfd}}.
When listing a page here, you might want to find the Wikipedia:Embassy or Ambassador member of the Wikipedia that relates to the language the article is in and invite them to move the page to their own Wikipedia. If you don't even know what language the article is in you could use Language recognition chart and if that fails some language recognition web site, such as xrce, to find out. Please leave a note on this page if you do this to prevent duplication of messages. If you have come here from another Wikipedia, please note on this page what you think should be done with the article.
If you can tell what language an article is written in, that might help.
Boilerplate text
For a page that needs translation in its entirety (so it would be appropriate to delete if not fixed):
- 1. Use the notice {{notenglish}} which will show up as:
This page needs translation into English. This page is written in a language other than English. If it is intended for readers from the community of that language, it should be contributed to the Wikipedia in that language. See the list of Wikipedias. |
- 2. Add a mention on this page.
If there is just a section that needs translation, that notice is inappropriate, so it's a little trickier:
- Use Category:Pages needing translation.
- Add an appropriate note at the top of the page in question, e.g.:
- ''Section [[#name-of-section|name-of-section]] contains text that needs translation into English.''
- Add a mention on this page.
Pages for consideration

Looks like a bunch of people added Template:Notenglish to articles without making notes here. Clock starts now on these. -- Jmabel | Talk 06:00, Oct 16, 2004 (UTC)
- Indonesian or Malay. Short. Probably junk. -- Jmabel | Talk 06:00, Oct 16, 2004 (UTC)
- The above text is probably written in Tagalog instead of Indonesian and Malay. 61.94.148.98 05:07, 21 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Not Tagalog but could be in some Philipine dialect. I can't recognize. Waray? --Jondel 07:42, 27 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- The above text is probably written in Tagalog instead of Indonesian and Malay. 61.94.148.98 05:07, 21 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Topic is Albanian. I suspect so is the language. Looks encyclopedic. -- Jmabel | Talk 07:07, Oct 17, 2004 (UTC)

French article about a dancer, as far as I understand it Sietse 14:28, 20 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Copied from [1], but this may be a free resource (please check if you speak french). -- Chris 73 Talk 14:30, Oct 20, 2004 (UTC)
- The home page of the site has a rather hidden copyright notice (visible only when you pass your cursor over the last icon on the bottom row: mystery-meat navigation.) If anyone wants to ask explicit permission to use this, contact [email protected], the contact info on the site. -- Jmabel | Talk 18:18, Oct 20, 2004 (UTC)

Looks like a track listing of an album in Swedish. --jpgordon{gab} 16:18, 24 Oct 2004 (UTC)

I've copyvio'd this, but I'm putting it here too because the original [2] is in Somali (I think), a language most of us probably haven't seen. --jpgordon{gab} 20:07, 26 Oct 2004 (UTC)
Dutch? Probably just a bad Psychology article. RickK 21:32, Oct 26, 2004 (UTC) Not Dutch. Maybe Danish? Anyway, it is, indeed just a bad Psychology article. -- Jmabel | Talk 23:49, Oct 26, 2004 (UTC)
- Either Danish or Norwegian. (What are the orthographical differences between the two?) [[User:Poccil|Peter O. (Talk)]] 06:55, Oct 27, 2004 (UTC)
- It's Danish. Compare with dk:Psykologi. I'm also putting it on VFD, because it contains no useful content in my opinion. The English version is far better. Sietse 12:52, 28 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Its Norwegian (I am a Dane). What are the differences? Very slight, mostly slightly alternative spellings :). Thue | talk 20:38, 28 Oct 2004 (UTC)
German. RickK 22:00, Oct 26, 2004 (UTC)
- Has now been badly translated into English, needs work. RickK 22:57, Oct 26, 2004 (UTC)
- I did a bit more; would someone like to bring over the images from the German Wikipedia? In any case, this is basically now just a cleanup matter. -- Jmabel | Talk 00:03, Oct 27, 2004 (UTC)
French. — Gwalla | Talk 06:41, 27 Oct 2004 (UTC)

This article is in Spanish. As far as I can tell, it's about economy on a global scale. Sietse 12:46, 28 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- It looks decent, but created at one stroke, anonymously, and without comment... I have to be worried about whether it may be a copyvio (although a couple of Google tests suggest it's probably not a copied web page). Still, I for one am not going to put the effort into translating what seems to me a likely copyvio. -- Jmabel | Talk 06:06, Oct 29, 2004 (UTC)
Translated pages that could still use some cleanup
Pages listed here are "mostly done" but could still use some attention from someone who approaches dual-native.
Ryukan songs
- Futami Jouwa -Ryukyuan folk song, originally noted 22 Apr 2004, could really use a running translation of the lyrics. -- Jmabel 05:19, 11 May 2004 (UTC)
- Subete no Hito no Kokoro ni Hana wo is much the same, but given that the writer seems to be still alive, I wonder whether there is a copyright issue? Tinsagu nu Hana does have a translation, but looks more suitable for Wikisource. --Henrygb 00:35, 3 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Refer to the Japanese version above(Subete no HIto...) . Ryukyu is not standard Japanese .--Jondel 07:12, 27 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- I'm posting translation of Subete no Hito no Kokoroni Hana wo.--Jondel 07:26, 27 Oct 2004 (UTC)
Surudi milli, the national anthem of Tajikistan, needs translation (which should be either following or side-by-side with the Tajik lyrics).
- I tried contacting the Tajik Embassy to the United States, but got no reply. -- Graham ☺ | Talk 00:10, 28 Sep 2004 (UTC)
Martin de Hoyarçabal: the French has all been translated, but there is a passage in Basque that may just be a translation of the same French quotation, or may be something else. Could someone who knows Basque please have a look at this? -- Jmabel 05:47, Sep 13, 2004 (UTC)
The German section is badly translated. Needs someone familiar with German word order to rearrange the text so it makes sense. Would probably help if they knew about German unemployment benefit too I guess. --Cfailde 14:02, 2004 Oct 7 (UTC)
- I have moved this to Talk:Unemployment benefit/Germany and made a note on Talk:Unemployment benefit. It's probably machine-translated. Someone should work out where it came from; if it's from a copyrighted source, please handle it as a copyvio, if it's from (say) the German Wikipedia, please note that here. Assuming it is legal, cleanup or retranslation seem about equally likely. -- Jmabel 19:12, Oct 7, 2004 (UTC)
- It's a translation of part of this:http://www.sam.uni-trier.de/VWL_Sam/lehre-files/ss2004/SAM-II-Uebung-SS-2004-Definitionen-2.pdf and thus copyvio. Saintswithin 09:00, 16 Oct 2004 (UTC)
All sections need attention - there is lack of natural prose. Original article is in Catalan at http://usuarios.lycos.es/uniocatalana/terralliure.html. Could be copy-vio.
