Change the date of "December 2025" relating to the fall of the Assad regime in the foreign relations section. This happened in 2024, and December 2025 has not occurred yet. 47.161.26.74 (talk) 03:21, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Revert English variety to American English due to variant change to British English in disregard of the American English template

[edit]

Recently, this article's variety has been changed to British English, due to the American English variety disregarding the edit notice on the page. However, this article used American English for years before the edit notice to use British was added. The Iran article as of February 2017 contains mostly American spelling (recognized, center, urbanization, color, program). However, in August 2022, a British English template was added in disregard of the American spelling in the article.

Yes you are right the original contains “transportation” whereas us Brits say “transport”. I have changed the template. Chidgk1 (talk) 17:08, 20 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Jaguar I don't know why the British English template was added to the editnotice in August 2022 even though the article already had American English. Could you change the editnotice and text to American English as well? VTSGsRock (talk) 23:50, 20 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I don't remember. It probably was written in British English originally, and should remain that way to be frank. ♦ JAGUAR  11:19, 21 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Jaguar I see you are also a Brit. Perhaps you are younger than me and so use the word “transportation” rather than “transport”. But I am sure at the time the article was created that “transportation” was US English not British. Chidgk1 (talk) 17:50, 21 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

It seems to me that the google search link description to this page has been vandalised an hour ago.

The edit seems to want to focus public opinion towards a single aspect of the country, namely its current government, thus encouraging hostile bias against Iran.

For responsible editing and a fairer introduction to the iranian people, I suggest changing the google search link description and picture (currently a black and white picture of clerics),

FROM: "Iran is officially governed as a unitary Islamic republic, with a presidential system and a supreme leader. The government is authoritarian and violates human..."

TO: "Iran is a country in West Asia with a multi-ethnic population. It is a founding member of the United Nations, and ranks 5th in the world for intangible cultural heritage."

Thank you for your consideration EDT2025 (talk) 22:04, 21 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: You seem to be referring to the Google Knowledge Graph that appears when certain Google searches are performed. While Google sometimes uses information from Wikipedia to create these, we have no control over their contents. Day Creature (talk) 06:41, 22 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
