Hi, from BoringHistoryGuy

[edit]

Hey. Long time no talk to.

I'm at the "stop me before I edit again" stage with the Giuseppe Perovani article. Do you agree that it should no longer be listed as a stub? And can I remove the tag, or does it need to be done by an administrator?

So many things I've forgotten.

Best,

More Boring Guy

@More Boring Guy: Sorry, been ambling around downtown Madison, Wisconsin all day, and just had a chance to look.
I do agree that the article is well past stub status, and doesn't need the tag any longer. You can remove it yourself, for future reference - it doesn't have to be done by an admin.
Nice work, as always - glad to have you back. :-)

Request for edit of article

[edit]

Dear Wikipedia Editor,

I am writing to request an update and a potential move for the existing "Zombodze" article on Wikipedia.

Proposed Article Move:

I propose moving the current "Zombodze" article to "Zombodze Emuva" to distinguish it more clearly, as there appears to be another significant location named Zombodze.

Proposed Content Update for "Zombodze, Eswatini":

Following the potential move, I would like to suggest the following revised content for the article to be titled "Zombodze, Eswatini". This content aims to provide a more comprehensive and accurate description of this historically significant royal village.

Zombodze, Eswatini

Zombodze is a historic royal village in the Manzini Region of Eswatini. It holds significant cultural and historical importance for the nation, particularly as the birthplace of King Sobhuza II. It is administered under the Ludzeludze Inkhundla.

History Zombodze has deep roots in the history of the Kingdom of Eswatini. It was here that the Ngwane people, the ancestors of the Swazi nation, established their capital under the leadership of Sobhuza I. The area is considered a royal village and serves as the sacred burial place for many past Swazi kings.

The village is most famously known as the birthplace of King Sobhuza II, who was born in Zombodze on July 22, 1899. He would go on to become the longest-reigning monarch in recorded history, leading Eswatini for over 82 years.

Governance Zombodze is an umphakatsi (chiefdom) that falls under the jurisdiction of the Ludzeludze Inkhundla, which is one of 16 tinkhundla in the Manzini Region. The inkhundla system is a cornerstone of Eswatini's traditional administrative structure, linking local communities to the central government.

Education Zombodze is home to Zombodze Primary School, which holds the distinction of being the first national school in Eswatini. The school was founded by the Queen Regent Labotsibeni Mdluli, the grandmother of King Sobhuza II, who was also one of its first pupils.

In addition to the primary school, the area is also served by Zombodze National High School.

Notable People

  • King Sobhuza II: The paramount chief and later King of Eswatini, was born in Zombodze.
  • Queen Labotsibeni Mdluli: The Queen Mother and Queen Regent of Swaziland, founder of Zombodze Primary School.

I believe these changes would greatly enhance the accuracy and completeness of the Wikipedia entry for Zombodze, Eswatini. Please let me know if any further information or clarification is needed.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely, Kwanelevilakati (talk) 20:06, 22 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Kwanelevilakati: I'm afraid that Eswatini is not an area in which I have much expertise - I would recommend you ask over at Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa for further guidance. Alternatively, you can ask for help over at the Wikipedia:Teahouse, where they can help you learn to edit articles yourself. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 05:54, 23 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Funny: my last concert (yesterday) was also harpsichord, Italian and what that did to Bach! - Today's story - short version: ten years ago we had a DYK about a soprano who sang in concerts with me in the choir, - longer: I found today a youtube of an aria she sang with us then, recorded the same year, - if you still have time: our performances were the weekend before the Iraq war ultimatum, and we sang Dona nobis pacem (and the drummer drummed!) as if they could hear us in Washington. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:59, 18 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question about CSD

[edit]

Am I allowed to ask admins like you to review a page that I tagged for speedy deletion to see if it truly meets the criteri(a/on) listed? Thanks, 1isall (talk/contribs) 00:25, 11 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@1isall: You can, certainly...though I don't engage with speedy deletion that much, so I'm not sure I'd be the best person to ask. Alternatively, you can just tag the page and wait to see what happens. If someone deletes the page, then you made the right call; if someone removes the template, then you can ask them why for future. I don't think anyone's going to mind that much. Besides, mis-tagging one page for speedy really isn't a concern; people are usually concerned if you display a pattern of poor judgement, rather than one or two isolated instances. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 03:32, 11 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Draft article advice

Hello Mr. Pruitt,

I am a Wikipedia editor working on the draft article for the Congregation of Teresian Carmelites (CTC). I noticed that you have contributed to the article on Eliswa Vakayil in June 2025 and have vast experience with Wikipedia editing.

I would greatly appreciate any advice you could give on improving the Draft:Congregation of Teresian Carmelites and guidance on moving it to the main article space.

The category being added must already exist, and must be supported by the article's verifiable content. Categories may be removed if they are deemed incorrect for the subject matter. Just a reminder that per WP:SUBCAT a page should not have a category alongside any of its child categories unless it's a non-diffusing category. Hello, Ser Amantio di Nicolao

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username EatingCarBatteries, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, Thymele, for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to contest the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|EatingCarBatteries}}. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. Thanks!

English wikipdia page from an existing Hungarian page

[edit]

Hello, Ser Amantio di Nicolao I saw that you edited Gergely Siklosi's épée fencers page, so I thought I'd ask you about the page of another Hungarian fencer. Two years ago I created a Hungarian wiki page for the fencer Somody Soma, and life brought it about that the English-language page would be much more important. I started the transcriptions in wikidata, but there (also) I really lost the track, and then I started doing the "real" translation in the "Add languages" / "Page translation" section, but on the one hand it warned me that I couldn't do this, only in draft, and on the other hand when it offered the "Publish" option at the end, I was able to go back there for half a day and see it, but after that it was completely lost. :-( Finally, I put together the entire English page in my Sandbox, but I have no idea how to proceed now! Could I ask for some help on how I can publish the English page, and then connect the Hungarian and English articles, if that won't happen yet? But the focus is on being able to publish the English wiki page! I don't know if it works elsewhere, but the entire English article, with links, proofs, tested, can be found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Somodyz/sandbox#External_links Thank you in advance for your help or advice, regards: Somodyz (talk) 15:41, 30 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Somodyz: You should be able to move the article to the title Soma Somody; just look for the link on the page titled "Move". (I can't tell you exactly where it is - on my page it's at the very bottom, but I use a different skin when I browse.) That will preserve the entire history of the page. It will turn your sandbox page into a redirect as well, but that's fairly easy to correct. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 04:48, 1 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Jesmyn Ward Category Removal Reversion

[edit]

Since Jesmyn Ward is an American, a woman, and a novelist, I restored her page to the category "American women novelists". If there's something I'm not understanding about why her article shouldn't be in that category, I'm happy to discuss. Triplingual (talk) 15:13, 1 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Triplingual: Jesmyn Ward is now listed in Category:21st-century American women novelists, so there's no need for the article to be in the parent Category:American women novelists. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 17:14, 1 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed you were moving pages from Category:21st-century American women writers to Category:21st-century American women novelists in one editing batch but removed them from Category:American women novelists in a second batch, when you could have done it in one unified set of edits. Since you were using AWB for the first set of edits, Cat-a-lot's current lack of functionality for changing multiple categories at once is not a valid excuse in this case, so I feel this amounts to edit-count-stacking (see Wikipedia:Editcountitis#Seriously,_though... and WP:EDITCOUNT). So you may want to use AWB for this case instead. ミラP@Miraclepine 16:53, 1 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Miraclepine: I have always preferred to do it the way I did it (with the caveat that I have sometimes done it in two AWB runs, rather than using Cat-a-lot.) I prefer doing such things in smaller steps rather than larger, because that means there's less room for error on a large scale. I have been doing it that way pretty much since I first started using AWB, however many years ago that was. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 17:09, 1 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Problematic User

[edit]

Hello. Sorry if this is inconvenient (I understand you must be quite busy), but there's something I wish to bring to your attention. There's this problematic user who has been making disruptive edits to two pages I contributed to since 4 May 2021. The pages are for Canadian voiceover brothers Michael and Paul Dobson. Michael's date of birth has been verified, but Paul's hasn't, but both brothers have made it clear in interviews that Michael is the older brother, and Paul is the younger brother. Here's the evidence I posted on one of the user's two accounts: User talk:LegoCityDude92

However, even now the user refuses to engage with me, and recently made those exact same disruptive edits for a fourth time using a second account (he's not even trying to hide his identity): User talk:LegoCityDude61892. I tried to get through to him yet again on this account, but he rebuffed me and insisted on his unprovable "truth" that Paul was actually older than Michael.

The user doesn't edit these pages often, but when he does it's the same every time (See Michael and Paul's history pages for more information). I know this may sound drastic, but I would recommend blocking this user's accounts, both of them. But, regardless of your final decision, would you mind doing something about this disruptive behaviour, or passing it on to another admin so they may take action? Thank you. AtlantisBabylon123 (talk) 01:16, 2 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@AtlantisBabylon123: It looks to me that there have been, at a minimum, a couple of weeks between edits on these articles, and frequently more. So I'm not convinced a block will do any good, given the low-level nature of this issue, and given the editor's history; the only kind of block that would work would be an indefinite one, and I don't think this rises to that level yet. If the pattern persists, then I think it would be better to protect the page for a few months...I don't think it's at that level yet, but if the problem recurs I'd be willing to consider that option. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 05:29, 2 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Elon Musk

[edit]

Elon Musk had offered to give a billion dollars to this site to change their name to D*ckipedia. [1]

He also had said: "Stop donating to Wokepedia" [2]

He also accused Wikipedia of a propaganda against him: “Since legacy media propaganda is considered a ‘valid’ source by Wikipedia, it naturally simply becomes an extension of legacy media propaganda!” [3] 2409:4085:D49:E799:B1E0:B1DB:9A7F:146 (talk) 06:49, 2 September 2025 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2485:1E98:A6F8:2C3B:45AD:7869:BBCD (talkcontribs) [reply]

Hi Sam,

Why did you remove the category American Women Novelists from Uva de Aragon? She's a female, American who writes novels. I think the category should be put back. Tumanurung (talk) 17:51, 2 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

My story today is about the principal violin of the Concentus Musicus; she would have been 95 OTD. The Cowardice Of Corporate Media

[edit]

Steven,

I recently published a piece on Substack titled The Cowardice of Corporate Media. I’ve heard of your legendary contributions to Wikipedia and your commitment to documenting truth. That’s why I’m reaching out.

With your background and understanding of Russia, I know you grasp the stakes of free speech and historical integrity. What I’ve documented in Michigan’s courtrooms is repeatable, verifiable, and deeply disturbing. The corporatocracy—what I consider a regime with intentions more corrosive than communism, doesn’t want this information out. But I do. And I’ve filed it in plain view.

Here’s the post: https://open.substack.com/pub/vinceorlando/p/the-cowardice-of-corporate-media?r=2dtr94&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=false

If you have a moment in your schedule, I’d be honored to hear your thoughts. This isn’t about attention—it’s about documentation. It’s about walking our children into a future that doesn’t involve their slaughter in perpetual greed wars for problems they didn’t create.

Respectfully, Vincent Orlando We The People NTWR Orlandoent (talk) 21:25, 30 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Elon Musk

[edit]

Elon Musk Plans to Take on Wikipedia With 'Grokipedia'.

Musk framed Grokipedia as a "necessary step" toward xAI's overarching mission of "understanding the universe".

Musk wrote: "We are building Grokipedia @xAI. Will be a massive improvement over Wikipedia. Frankly, it is a necessary step towards the xAI goal of understanding the Universe." [4]

A follow-up post elaborated: "Join @xAI and help build Grokipedia, an open source knowledge repository that is vastly better than Wikipedia! This will be available to the public with no limits on use." [5]

Specific issues that Musk highlighted with Wikipedia include:

Ideological Bias and Activist Control: Wikipedia is "hopelessly biased," maintained by an "army of left-wing activists" who fight "reasonable corrections" and prioritize narratives over facts. Musk has mocked it as "Wokipedia" for allegedly favoring progressive ideologies, such as in economic definitions (e.g., editing "recession" over 180 times in 2022) or political events (e.g., portraying his inauguration gesture as a "Nazi-like salute" in early 2025).

Influence on AI and Search: As a top Google result and AI training source, Wikipedia amplifies its biases globally, creating a "huge problem" for truthful information dissemination.

Grokipedia, in contrast, aims to eliminate these by leveraging Grok AI for "synthetic corrections"—automatically detecting and fixing errors, omissions, and biases in real-time. Key promises include:

AI-Driven Accuracy: No manual activist interference; Grok will ensure content is "factual" and "vastly better" through automated verification.

Open and Unlimited Access: Fully public, open-source, with "no limits on use," encouraging broad contributions without Wikipedia's alleged gatekeeping.

Neutrality Focus: Broader sourcing and freer information exchange to avoid "ideological bias," aligning with xAI's truth-seeking ethos.

He said that Grok would stop using Wiki pages by the end of the year. 2409:4052:2481:3F9B:6807:E2D:C808:4389 (talk) 12:40, 4 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
