Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Education

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Education. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

Adding a new AfD discussion
Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
  1. Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
  2. You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Education|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
Removing a closed AfD discussion
Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
Other types of discussions
You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Education. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.

For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

PROD contested because "numerous incoming links indicate potential importance". There are numerous incoming links because an editor created the massive navigation template {{Colleges in Dhaka}}, which links 120+ schools and colleges to each other. The links are no more an indicator of notability than membership in Category:Education in Dhaka is.

Fails WP:NSCHOOL as it meets neither WP:GNG nor WP:ORG. Searches in English and Bengali found only indiscriminate lists, social media, and job postings, no significant coverage in independent, reliable, secondary sources. Worldbruce (talk) 19:47, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

No doubt a fine school, and an article that contains a nice picture, an infobox, and even an audio pronunciation of it's name. But not a notable topic. The only source containing significant coverage is the school website.

Source assessment table
Source Independent? Reliable? Significant coverage? Count source toward GNG?
No School website Yes Yes Two long paragraphs No
Yes Yes No Boils down to, "In 2023 and 2022, it had the highest HSC pass rate in the district" No
No Superintendent of Police supervises the school Yes No One short paragraph No
~ Probably a press release Yes No List of dignitaries present when a foundation stone was laid, but no encyclopedic content - no explanation of what the new building is for, why it is needed, how big it will be, how much it will cost, when it will be completed, etc. No
No School website Yes No Shorter version of 1st source No
No School website Yes No Redundant copy of 1st source No
This table may not be a final or consensus view; it may summarize developing consensus, or reflect assessments of a single editor. Created using {{source assess table}}.

Searches of the usual Google types in English and Bengali, as well as searches of ProQuest Central and East View's South Asian Newspapers archive, found sources that fail WP:ORGTRIV, but no sources that are simultaneously independent and in-depth. So should not be a stand alone article. Open to a redirect to Rangpur, Bangladesh#Education. --Worldbruce (talk) 18:51, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep - notable school and college in Rangpur city. In Bangladesh institutions doesn’t get much coverage in the medias but the popular ones get coverage after their evaluation results and “Police Lines School and College, Rangpur” has gotten that. We shouldn’t delete this article.

A source about only one specific facet of a school does not provide significant coverage of that school. Coverage such as that in Barta24 is a single factoid. It does not address the topic of the school in detail. The coverage fails WP:ORGDEPTH. --Worldbruce (talk) 18:02, 13 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Previously considered at AfD Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sekolah Menengah Teknik Ipoh Persiaran Brash , however we are now much stricter on notability as per WP:NSCHOOL. This is an unreferenced article. LibStar (talk) 01:09, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • delete no references, almost no information about the school (number of students/faculty, what does it teach etc so the article is not useful either. Finally, no indication of any notability at all. --hroest 15:20, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I have carried out WP:BEFORE for this school article, and added a ref. I don't see WP:THREE instances of significant coverage in reliable secondary sources, however, and don't think the school meets WP:NCORP, WP:GNG or WP:NSCHOOL. Redirect to Morgantown, West Virginia#Private schools is a possibility. Tacyarg (talk) 19:32, 10 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • At least Weak Keep. Ideally, I'd like to see more in depth coverage from sources from further away, but there's a lot of documentation and enough I could find from other newspapers in the state.
    • "Trinity, St. Francis Schools Expand in Morgantown" (Feb 2006)[1] State Journal, Charleston
    • "Trinity Christian School Breaks Ground on New Wing" (November 2004)[2] Dominion Post
    • Residents Question Trinity Christians Impact (August 2004)[3] Dominion Post
    • "Trinity Christian opens new campus, transportation issues arise"(April 2005)[4] Dominion Post
    • "Trinity Adds Finishing Touches" (August 2005)[5] Dominion Post
    • "Trinity for sale to highest bidder: Bank looking to sell bankrupt Christian school" (May 2010) [6], Dominion Post
    • "Bank wants to sell bankrupt private school in Morgantown"(May 2010) [7], Charleston Gazette
    • "Trinity to keep school: Reaches deal with bank for $5 million" (July 2010) [8] Dominion Post
    • "Prep Sports:: Morgantown Christian school getting ready to tackle football" (Jan 2009) [9]" Charleston Daily Mail
    • More[10][11][12][13][14][15]
There are also hundreds of more routine sports articles, which actually makes it difficult to find the more in depth ones Jahaza (talk) 23:48, 10 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak delete as private school it will have to pass WP:NORG and I dont see any substantial in depth coverage from multiple independent sources. There is some coverage from a single newspaper but a lot is run of the mill and not in-depth, one single source is not multiple and trivial coverage of sports events does not constitute SIGCOV. --hroest
  • Weak keep - compared with most independent schools, this seems to get a lot of (at least local) media coverage. Bearian (talk) 17:17, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced since creation more than 15 years earlier, all sources listed in previous AfD only mention this tangentially, does not meet WP:GNG. Coeusin (talk) 13:45, 10 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The entire page seems to be promotional, only mentions its history briefly and otherwise the study programs WP:SPIP. The content sources are 2/2 the college homepage WP:SIGCOV. In addition, I could not find any significant news coverage (or other sources), that adresses the college as an independent entity WP:GNG. All in all, this article should be either deleted or merged with University of Delaware. Pragmatic Puffin (talk) 16:49, 9 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • delete/redirect I dont see enough independent coverage of this college to warrant an independent article. Similar to the other colleges, a subsection in the main article should be sufficient. It is somewhat disheartening though that each sports team has their own article while the institutions of learning do not. --hroest 15:35, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Redirect- or merge to the University of Delaware as my searches so far reflects that of the nom. College itself lacks SIGCOV. Lorraine Crane (talk) 21:24, 13 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

This is an improvement over Infinity learn. However, the article still lacks reliable coverage. An online search of this edtech brand produces press releases covering Sri Chaitanya and few things of use here. I am not confident that this brand meets WP:NCORP. The Kompas piece is nice to go towards notability, but the other 3 are all primary sources, and two of those are mere mentions. Searches did not turn up enough in-depth coverage to show it passes WP:GNG, although searching was difficult due to the a similarly named organization for contemplative studies. Does not look to be a notable institution. Barely any in-depth coverage on the same. Most of it seems to be trivial mention or paid PR Flyingphoenixchips (talk) 13:50, 8 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • weak keep this is a public university with over 1000+ students and there is some coverage of it in various sources: [16] [17]. It is not extensive but probably enough for an University. --hroest 15:25, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

This institution does not seem notable either. Relies heavily on primary sources or sources that are not independent from the subject. There is nothing out there proving that the institution is notable. Did a google search and there are barely any sources out there. Would suggest a deletion. I don't see any sources by which to judge the school to be notable, with WP:NCORP being applicable to this private business institution. The sole reference in the article seems to be lost, but based on its title ("NIA: 100% placement with highest package of Rs 10.5 lakh per annum") and what had been referenced to it, it seems to have been a PR-push. (I don't think independent media are going out on their own to examine insurance academy placement rates and report on them.) Largoplazo (talk) 00:11, 3 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Weak Keep The prior deletion is sufficiently old; I believe it now qualifies under WP:NORG. It is a governmental unit of India created in 1980. It presently necessitates further citations to enhance its notability. Promotional content is an issue that can be reduced.CresiaBilli (talk) 08:23, 10 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

As I said, I'm not finding such sources to cite. Largoplazo (talk) 11:56, 10 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
