Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Current requests for increase in protection level
Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or, failing that, the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – Battle between 155.254.115.73 and SharabSalam over whether the people of the Horn of Africa are Arabs. Largoplazo (talk) 04:35, 13 January 2019 (UTC)
- Looks like it stopped, let us wait a bit before it gets declined.--Ymblanter (talk) 17:34, 13 January 2019 (UTC)
Semi-protection: High level of vandalism and disruptive editing from Olympiacos B.C. hooligans, on daily basis. Continuous belittlement and removal of confirmed sources, regarding the domestic titles of the team. Many of the users have been warned, many of them have been blocked, but nothing changes. --Panosgatto (talk) 09:18, 13 January 2019 (UTC)
Semi-protected for a period of 3 weeks, after which the page will be automatically unprotected.--Ymblanter (talk) 19:05, 13 January 2019 (UTC)
Indefinite extended confirmed: Arbitration enforcement – As per Criticism section and the new material that user want to add/remove https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Birthright_Israel&oldid=878143044 https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Birthright_Israel&diff=878088303&oldid=877603076. Shrike (talk) 09:56, 13 January 2019 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Editor keeps making edits against consensus and without bringing matter to talk page. ...William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 13:37, 13 January 2019 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent IP vandalism related to unconfirmed transfer rumours. Bright Darkness (talk) 13:47, 13 January 2019 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Constant unsourced changes by IP's regarding country and spelling of certain names. David J Johnson (talk) 13:59, 13 January 2019 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Continued disruption by IP-hopping vandal. I can't read what they've said and Google translate doesn't help much, but the translation of the edit summary includes "Jihadist rapist" so there may well be need for revdel. Dorsetonian (talk) 14:57, 13 January 2019 (UTC)
- Automated comment: One or more pages in this request appear to already be protected. Please confirm.—cyberbot ITalk to my owner:Online 17:55, 13 January 2019 (UTC)
Indefinite pending changes: BLP policy violations – Article is prone to infrequent BLP vandalism that is reverted. Most was reverted except for 1 bit which stayed on the article from September 2018 till my edit. This article should be indef PC protected so further bouts of vandalism can be reverted in its entirety. . Alucard 16❯❯❯ chat? 15:21, 13 January 2019 (UTC)
- International Commission against Impunity in Guatemala (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Semi-protection: Current events, unsourced edit warring between factions. Feasinde (talk) 18:33, 13 January 2019 (UTC)
Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection., last edit three days ago--Ymblanter (talk) 18:59, 13 January 2019 (UTC)
Semi-protection: BLP policy violations – This BLP has been subject to addition of unsourced personal information, contrary to the wishes of an editor who identifies as the article subject; see Special:diff/854600123, Special:diff/859127953 and the suppressed edit on July 31. The article was semi-protected for three months by DeltaQuad, but the edits have resumed within a week of the protection expiring. I suggest long-term or indef pc or semi-protection may be appropriate. Wham2001 (talk) 18:59, 13 January 2019 (UTC)
Indefinite semi-protection: A fourteen day period just ended and the page is still receiving a lot BLP vandalism. This has been going on for months. I suspect this will continue until December 2019 when the next Star Wars film is released and the mob turns its attention to something else. Nemov (talk) 19:11, 13 January 2019 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent IP vandalism. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 19:20, 13 January 2019 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Same as above. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 19:20, 13 January 2019 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Over last few days someone keeps claiming he has an OBE. RhinosF1 (talk) 19:37, 13 January 2019 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – vandalism. Joeykai (talk) 20:07, 13 January 2019 (UTC)
Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – need status quo ante version [1] locked in. (Per my revert) Reason is new content is badly formatted, contains inaccuracies, and editor is engaging in personal attacks rather than negotiating to figure out which content can stay in (some is useful, just not all) and what needs to be fixed. Current requests for reduction in protection level
Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Current requests for edits to a protected page
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
Create a level 3 header with a link to the article in question, then a {{Pagelinks}} template and then the reason. It looks like this:
