Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or, failing that, the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – Consistent addition of unsourced info - IP editors have been making edits and claiming their edits are sourced with existing sources, which I’ve struggled to verify. Danners430 (talk) 19:34, 10 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – Comes under WP:ARBPIA. Isi96 (talk) 00:05, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – No changes to the current protection level are required at this point in time. Favonian (talk) 08:25, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: High level of IP disruption-it's best to use semi-protection for at least... a week. PawPatroler (talk) 03:13, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Lots of IP Vandalism and misinformation. Gideonrmt (talk) 17:13, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Please enforce WP:CT/AP IanDBeacon (talk) 01:06, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Too much unsourced additions. Can't even follow. Beshogur (talk) 18:33, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Pending-changes protected for a period of 1 year, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Favonian (talk) 08:49, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Per talk page, falls under community-authorised general sanctions for WP:RUSUKR. Also, some recent disruptive editing related to WP:CT/IPA. Referentis (talk) 20:13, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Repeated sockpuppetry, please see report[3]. Rambling Rambler (talk) 00:57, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Please move the page back to Road infrastructure case (for WP:STATUSQUO) and place a move protection. I have created the page with that name, and it has been moved twice for weak reasons. A potential move should be decided on a move request, not by further unilateral moves, and it should be the one proposing the move the one to initiate it and get consensus. The page is also currently at Wikipedia:In the news/Candidates. Cambalachero (talk) 03:13, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Hello, I am Woni Spotts, the subject of this article. Since 2019, I have experienced repeated vandalism, false claims, and personal attacks on this page—many tied to a public rivalry. These incidents have affected both the main article and its Talk page, and often involve unsourced or misleading edits.

I respectfully request that this article be considered for semi-protection to prevent further disruption, and that future changes be reviewed under the Biographies of Living Persons (BLP) policy to ensure accuracy and fairness.

Thank you for your consideration and help in maintaining the integrity of this article. 2600:8802:3A09:6400:86C:E076:FB1:CD8 (talk) 03:32, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Favonian (talk) 08:17, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – There's an IP changing anonymous user from Iran that keeps removing Windows as a platform. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 03:37, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Requesting semi-protection due to large amount of low-quality IP vandalism repeatedly changing the words "protests" to "riots". Prior talk page discussion was against this. BootsED (talk) 03:47, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – IPs and SPAs using Wikipedia in an attempt to rebrand Zee TV pages with logo and name changes that aren't even on its website. Other Zee pages already protected but requesting this as well. CNMall41 (talk) 04:52, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – No changes to the current protection level are required at this point in time. Current semi-protection is adequate. Favonian (talk) 08:21, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: Unprotection: This article has been semi-protected since 2010 due to apparent sockpuppetry by Bambifan101. Now that it seems that Bambifan isn't active for quite some time, and the other Land Before Time film articles are not protected, perhaps it's time to unprotect this one after 15 years have past? The protecting administrator has long retired since 2014. BriDash9000 (talk) 14:05, 10 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Comment: Bambifan isn't known for dropping the stick. He was active in January, and he'll likely be back. So this doesn't sound like a good idea to me. Sumanuil. (talk to me) 21:06, 10 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Can you point me to the incident? The last report at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Bambifan101 was in January 2024. Sdrqaz (talk) 22:40, 10 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
My mistake. Regardless, unprotecting a low-profile LTA target seems like it would be tempting fate. Keeping it protected doesn't cost anything, and the requesting editor is extended-confirmed, so it's not like the protection affects them. If they need to edit it, they can. Sumanuil. (talk to me) 23:54, 10 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Not unprotected but rather reduced to PCP, a protection type that didn't exist at the time this article was protected, and which seems appropriate in this case. ~Anachronist (talk) 05:50, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
