Wikipedia:Requests for page protection
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Current requests for increase in protection level
Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or, failing that, the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – The edit warring here continues. Perhaps implement a higher level of restriction for a month as her album is released today. Karst (talk) 08:49, 6 June 2025 (UTC)
- Automated comment: A request for protection/unprotection for one or more pages in this request was recently made, and was denied at some point within the last 8 days.—cyberbot ITalk to my owner:Online 08:58, 6 June 2025 (UTC)
Declined The disruption is nowhere near serious enough to justify full protection. Daniel Case (talk) 04:19, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Persistent vandalism of the page related to indigenous culture and content. Repeated disruptive editing, especially from anonymous users. Requesting semi-protection or extended confirmed protection to maintain page integrity. Titi7000 (talk) 12:42, 6 June 2025 (UTC) [1]. [2]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Not many edits at all in last six months. Daniel Case (talk) 04:20, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
- I fixed the link at the top of the section, but no comment on the request. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 18:51, 6 June 2025 (UTC)
Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – Edit warring again, previously involving another user, now with IP, the same involved editor, looks to be exhibiting ownership issues and that other is always wrong, they're always right. — Paper9oll (🔔 • 📝) 10:55, 7 June 2025 (UTC)
User(s) blocked: 119.94.167.39 (talk · contribs) blocked by ToBeFree. from page for 2 weeks. Daniel Case (talk) 04:27, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Yuvaank (talk) 07:34, 8 June 2025 (UTC)

User(s) blocked: 183.83.165.154 (talk · contribs) blocked by Materialscientist. for two weeks. Daniel Case (talk) 04:30, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – IP/new editor disruption. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 15:20, 8 June 2025 (UTC)
Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Things have quieted down in the last couple of days. Daniel Case (talk) 04:32, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – IP editors aggressively edit warring false / unsourced information into the article. MrOllie (talk) 19:21, 8 June 2025 (UTC)
User(s) blocked: 2600:1008:B220:0:0:0:0:0/44 (talk · contribs) blocked by Daniel Case. for a week. Daniel Case (talk) 04:40, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
Reason: IP vandalism BlameRuiner (talk) 00:42, 9 June 2025 (UTC)
Declined – Warn the user appropriately then report them to AIV or ANI if they continue. I have given them their first warning. Daniel Case (talk) 04:58, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Frequent vandalism. David O. Johnson (talk) 07:31, 9 June 2025 (UTC)
Declined It's a little much for the IP to call its removal vandalism, but IMO he's not wrong for insisting that a claim like "is now regarded by some as the greatest heavy metal album of all time" be sourced in the intro as well as the body if it is made in both places, whatever LEADCITE says. Daniel Case (talk) 05:02, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
Indefinite extended-confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement. Per ARBPIA. Israel has diverted her ship Freedoxm (talk · contribs) 08:07, 9 June 2025 (UTC)
- ARBPIA is not the main topic of the article, and I do not see any disruptive editing by non-ec accounts. The article is already semi-protected. I would decline. Ymblanter (talk) 21:34, 9 June 2025 (UTC)
Declined per above. Daniel Case (talk) 03:42, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
Reason: persistent and insistent disregard for WP policy (also on Commons and Wikidata); disruptive edits by likely connected users Cl3phact0 (talk) 08:53, 9 June 2025 (UTC)
Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Daniel Case (talk) 05:05, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
Reason: An edit war with many participants who, ignoring the topical discussion on the article's discussion page, regularly rewrite the preamble, including removing the source request for a phrase they regularly return to the text. The article has already reached compromises several times in the hope of moving the dispute into discussion, but each time new participants have re-established the conflict again. Solaire the knight (talk) 18:13, 9 June 2025 (UTC)
Reason: IP has been trying to add information to the article that doesn’t fit the scope of the article and is also unreliable. Another IP noticed this and removed it however the IP seems to be starting an edit war. The article needs protection so that it can remain stable. Please see diffs:

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Disruptive edits similar to those that preceded previous page protection in March - repeated addition of non-notable entry. Seems to have some off-wiki coordination in March on this forum. Bridget (talk) 23:40, 9 June 2025 (UTC)
- If you actually read the posts in the forum there is no coordination going on. Many people in the Art of Problem Solving community know what Orz means, though. 49.255.152.125 (talk) 23:47, 9 June 2025 (UTC)
Reason: High level of IP disruption PawPatroler (talk) 02:05, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Repeated vandalism DocPepper810 (talk) 02:37, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
Reason: High level of IP unsourced names. Servite et contribuere (talk) 02:48, 10 June 2025 (UTC) Semi Protection for 6 Weeks Maybe?
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing. EndzoneEnthusiast 03:09, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – vandalism. GraziePrego (talk) 04:21, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
Current requests for reduction in protection level
Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Current requests for edits to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
