Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Crime
![]() | Points of interest related to Crime on Wikipedia: Portal – Category – WikiProject – Deletions – Stubs – Assessment |
This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Crime. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Crime|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Crime. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

Non-notable biography. The article is currently a brief puffery about the subject's work in spiritual/self-healing, sourced to one newspaper advertisement for his trademarked version of spiritual healing. However, when trying to find if sources exist for Ponce, I found quite a bit of coverage; however, it's almost all WP:BLPCRIME so might not establish notability for the encyclopedia: a tabloid(?) article about a 2021 allegation of Ponce leading a cult masked by his healing work[1] followed by quite a bit of coverage in what appears to be reliable sources of the government taking the allegations seriously and conducting an investigation[2][3] including in some American media[4] followed by coverage of Ponce's denial of the allegations in Mexican[5] and American[6] media. However, I can't tell if there's lasting coverage of this allegation: the most recent information, a 2025 tabloid(?) article, describes por supuestos antecedentes penales de Ricardo Ponce, translating to "Ricardo Ponce's alleged criminal record". Without a conviction, including any of this would probably run afoul of WP:BLPCRIME although a case could be made that the spread to international news might make it notable nonetheless. I'd welcome an editor with better knowledge of Spanish to chime in on the sourcing here. Also worth noting that an article on Ponce has been repeatedly deleted for notability from the Spanish Wikipedia.

- Comment. I know little of Afd, but the sole reference ("First human being to scientifically prove the ability to self-heal", indeed -- same article twice, and the second iteration is 404) reeks of a paid newspaper insert. Moscow Mule (talk) 00:04, 13 June 2025 (UTC)
- Delete. The sources included in this AFD are reliable sources. The sources in the article appear to be sponsored content as they were written (even one has a "branded content" caption): "La Hekalogía®, "ciencia del poder sanador interior"..." Why would a newspaper add a registered trademark symbol if it weren't being paid by the trademark owner? El Heraldo is archived here. Both shouldn't be considered as reliable here because of that as they fail WP:RSMED as they make the questionable assertion that Hekalogía "demonstrated 'progressive chakra alignment, improved coherence in brain waves, and an increase in the body’s energy field'", in a study that have not been published or peer reviewed. Regarding the sexual abuse accusations, he won his case, so the sources will unduly focus on something that didn't happen. If es.wiki didn't accept this 5 times, and they have a lot of trash, then, why would we? (CC) Tbhotch™ 03:09, 13 June 2025 (UTC)

WP:BLP of a criminal, not reliably sourced as passing the intentionally high WP:PERP bar. The criminal assertions here are from the 1990s, with absolutely no evidence shown that they're still of any enduring importance in 2025, and the article is referenced entirely to unreliable sources rather than WP:GNG-worthy ones. As always, we are not the town stocks or the sex offender registry, and permanent naming and shaming of otherwise low-profile criminals is not really what we're here for — so as one of the most widely-read websites in the world, we shouldn't be tattooing scarlet letters on a guy who's done his time without much stronger evidence of permanent notability, and much stronger sourcing for it, than this. - delete per WP:BLP, WP:BLP1E and per nom, while I could find a dozen news article discussing this case from September 1996 to Feb 1997 and nothing after that, so clearly there is no long term impact of this case. - On the event, delete gang shootings specifically are very common and virtually never get WP:NEVENT passing coverage. Coverage now is not sufficient and there is no indication this is really unusual.
- HOWEVER: What on earth is this page history? This was made in 2011. This appears to have been a page on a park called Young Park, that was then hijacked and had the park information deleted. I have no clue if the park page is notable but I feel uncomfortable deleting it in such a roundabout and improper way. PARAKANYAA (talk) 01:39, 11 June 2025 (UTC)
- Courtesy @Albanianrapper: who created the article under discussion. No issue with the nom, the script thought the creator was Doncram because of the original draft he created that was subsequently converted. Star Mississippi 01:49, 11 June 2025 (UTC)
- Restore this version as a viable draft about Young Park and if the shooting is to be retained, split the histories essentially per nom. The Park's draft should not be impacted by the event. Star Mississippi 01:52, 11 June 2025 (UTC)
- Note: This discussion has been included in the list of Events-related deletion discussions. WCQuidditch ☎ ✎ 03:31, 11 June 2025 (UTC)
- Restore as suggested by User:Star Mississippi. This was a page about a local park, which was swept up in an event. While the event may not be notable and might well deserve deletion per NEVENT, the local park still exists and its notability is not based on the event. BusterD (talk) 11:24, 11 June 2025 (UTC)
- Merge (selectively) into to Las Cruces, New_Mexico#History. We have too little information on the event to sustain the event page and the shooting skipped Las_Cruces, New Mexico#History, where it should first have been mentioned. Without prejudice. There is an interesting proposal above to roll all changes back, yet the park article is way too short to be sustained. Retarget that redirect that to Las Cruces, New Mexico, where it is mentioned. Also without prejudice. gidonb (talk) 22:21, 12 June 2025 (UTC)

I accepted this at WP:AFC in good faith, but having seen comments on the talk page it seems that the article is contentious, and possibly misleading so bringing it here for a community discussion. Theroadislong (talk) 17:52, 8 June 2025 (UTC)
Stubify or redirect to persecution of Yazidis. It is likely possible to write some sort of article on this topic, but this one would to be scrapped and rewritten to satisfy WP:VER. I don't object to deletion. On second thought just delete the article; content has enough issues that preserving is more harmful than helpful and I've begun to doubt the notability since all the sources I've found are either passing mentions or derivative of the Six-Hohenbalken paper. It's a shame this topic is not better documented or researched, but we can't change that. (t · c) buidhe 18:01, 8 June 2025 (UTC)- Delete: I don't remember well but This article was first named as "Yazidi genocide" and as I do remember it was drafted because of multiple problems, I can see that they changed everything in the draft and then moved to article (Or maybe requested for moving it to articles), and I am right about this, you can check the history editing of the article for my claims about it's old title and topic. Since the creator has been involved in Creating hoax content, I support the deletion of the article, and maybe another good faith editor can re-create it with a better version. Has only one source, which is not independent. A before search found [7] and [8], the second of which is the only source I could find which could be considered secondary. Even that, however, is not WP:SIGCOV, as it's about the show rather than the character. He is mentioned in a few books from the show's era, but even those only mention him for a sentence or two (i.e., [9], [10], [11]). I should also mention there is a quicklet produced for the series, but this is just summarizing the plot and it's unclear whether it was produced independently or by the network. Subject fails WP:GNG and is not notable. 🌸wasianpower🌸 (talk • contribs) 18:57, 5 June 2025 (UTC)

- Keep: I also agree that it is very informative. This article provides encyclopaedic value by documenting terminology and release patterns that have been widely used and referenced in digital media communities for decades. While improvements in sourcing and structure may be needed, the topic itself is verifiably notable through its sustained use in torrenting platforms, piracy-related discussions, and tech journalism. Deletion appears to be motivated, at least in part, by ideological opposition to the subject matter rather than a neutral assessment of whether this information is citable and informative. I do think with only eight officers of note who died in the line of duty, it would be proper to expand the section regarding their deaths in the WSP article, including Casper's, but the circumstances of his death and youth should result in a redirect to his agency at minimum.
