Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or, failing that, the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

ClockC Actually, some constructive editing from newbies since I posted this. Will almost certainly have to be protected once the west coast wakes up, but I don't want to block them out just yet. TimothyJosephWood 13:13, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, that's more like it. Starting to get into the vandal per minute area. TimothyJosephWood 14:06, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Taking into account vandalisers who get late to the party....Lectonar (talk) 14:18, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Note: Shortened to 2 days; IPs, please use the article's talk-page to request edits. Lectonar (talk) 14:25, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Qed237 (talk) 16:07, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. El_C 19:13, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent offensive words and vandalism from the same user. User talk:Oliszydlowski, 18:49, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 3 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Widr (talk) 10:47, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Fully protected for a period of 24 hours, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. (edit conflict) While the edit summaries have been ... unpleasant ... the content in question (quality of pollution in the city) sounds like a good faith dispute, so a full-protection is necessary to avoid taking sides. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 10:48, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Note: Procedural point—I think you should have asked Widr first if you could change the protection level. El_C 18:52, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Extended one-month protection: The same IP user keeps violating other articles like Kraków. He is again using offensive and very vulgar language and I believe that 2 days protection is not enough. Can this be extended to one month? Best Regards - User talk:Oliszydlowski, 20:31, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – No changes to the current protection level are required at this point in time. The article is still under semi-protection. Lectonar (talk) 11:03, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – An IP-hopping editor has been repeatedly disrupting this article since 2015 (requiring two semi-protections so far) has returned to continue his disruption. Deli nk (talk) 20:44, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. caknuck ° needs to be running more often 21:44, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – No need for this disruption . Moxy (talk) 21:39, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Fully protected for a period of 4 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. El_C 22:04, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
El_C. Conflict there. While you were protecting I blocked both of them for 31 hours. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 22:08, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    Unprotected. Copy that. El_C 22:11, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Extended confirmed protected indefinitely. Both the protecting admin (yours truly) and the blocking admin (CambridgeBayWeather) have decided to implement ARBPIA/Ds to the article. El_C 22:57, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing. Someone is replacing "Asher" repeatedly with "Asr." Not sure if it constitutes vandalism, but definitely disruptive. Coming from multiple IP addresses. I'd just keep reverting away, but that could be seen as edit-warring. Alephb (talk) 21:43, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 5 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. El_C 22:08, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Inappropriate use of user talk page while blocked. Geraldo Perez (talk) 22:16, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 5 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. For the duration of the block (could have just reblocked without ability to edit own talk page, but this works, too). El_C 22:53, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection:IP users keep coming back to remove information from Certifications. Cather2021 (talk) 22:27, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. El_C 22:54, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: IPs persistently adding unreliable information to the article. Would SP myself, but have previously edited it. Black Kite (talk) 22:35, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – IP-hopping vandal. Sro23 (talk) 23:11, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. NeilN talk to me 23:18, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Continued disruptive editing, and addition of content that is unsourced or poorly sourced, or removal of content that IS sourced. livelikemusic talk! 23:37, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection - persistent vandalism by IPs and non-autoconfirmed users. TheBlueCanoe 00:14, 4 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Unprotection: Protected by HJ Mitchell in 2010, then only about 10 edits later on. It needs to be updated regularly. 219.79.180.63 (talk) 10:37, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
