Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Wikipedia:RFUP)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Temporary semi-protection: TheDeviantPro and myself are the target of abuse by an Italian (and occasionally Portuguese) IP user, previously under the username MySuperBelt85 (talk · contribs), back in 2017. That is some long-term abuse! We've been called "d0rky" and have been accused of watching pr0ns all day. The mere audacity! Infantile stupidity aside, it's best the IP user would knock it off. I suggested TheDeviantPro having their talk page semi edit protected is still an option, which they agreed to. As a courtesy, I'm making the request. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 11:39, 28 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Whoops, I meant to go for indefinite, seeing the IP user has stated 'bans & blocks won't stop me' and this has been going on since 2017. Also, TheDeviantPro, I forgot to tag you here. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 11:41, 28 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Requesting again because this article has been targeted by Indian dynamic IPs regarding the reception of this series. Likely short-term disruption. Trailblazer101🔥 (discuss · contribs) 15:26, 28 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: vandalism by IPs. Borgenland (talk) 16:09, 28 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – IP users 220.141.223.105 and 220.141.199.154 were temporarily blocked by {{u|Hammersoft}] for disruptively editing this page a few weeks ago. Since then, different IP addresses and a new account have been restoring the same disruptive edits made by the blocked IP addresses. Epicgenius (talk) 16:23, 28 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – IPs still attempting to change the logo which does not exist on the website. Please see one of the discussions here (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Zee_Entertainment_Enterprises). Constantly changed despite warnings. A few other Zee pages are already protected and likely need them all. CNMall41 (talk) 16:54, 28 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary extended confirmed protection: After the university got involved in a ranking/bribery scam in India, some paid accounts started editing the page. Certain users and IP addresses have been adding more positive content and trying to remove the controversies section repeatedly. Charlie (talk) 17:26, 28 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Persistent unreferenced edits from IP users. Hotwiki (talk) 18:11, 28 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 3 months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Materialscientist (talk) 12:17, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Persist editing of unsourced content being added to the page by the same IP user, starting back as early as May 2025. Shout4Serenity (talk) 20:59, 28 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    User(s) blocked. Materialscientist (talk) 12:17, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – New user adding poorly sourced content. Been reverted by a few users. Ixudi (talk) 00:07, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Frequent disruptive editing and vandalism from IP users and some users with accounts. BlockArranger (talk) 00:38, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Less Unless (talk) 09:27, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Current sporting event. Been getting IP vandalism all day. Nswix (talk) 01:54, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 3 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Materialscientist (talk) 12:15, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent Persistent vandalism – IP hopper repeating the same vandal and attack page edit. Chew Yan Heng (talk) 03:09, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing. This article needs semi-protection ASAP. After the ECP of the article expired, every IP edit (17 of them) on the article has either been disruptive, unconstructive, or violated BLP. Furthermore, a sockpuppet edited this article. Freedoxm (talk · contribs) 04:35, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended-confirmed protection: Persistent disruptive editing. IPs violating ARBPIA and post-1978 Iranian politics topic restriction by replying to an irrelevant comment. Freedoxm (talk · contribs) 06:31, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Sushidude21! (talk) 06:54, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 3 months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Materialscientist (talk) 12:20, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Requesting at least indefinite semi-protection due to frequent high-level vandalism, including multiple death hoaxes with fake sources of his death that may look very legitimate to some. Maybe also worthy of temporary or permanent extended-confirmed protection as well. MakaylaHippo1998 (talk) 07:12, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – There's been a slow-burning edit war regarding the specific name of this entity. I've attempted to open a discussion on the matter, to no avail. A temporary protection might drive users to the discussion. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 12:41, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Persistent sourced content removal and pov-pushing with NON-RS by IP. Koshuri (グ) 13:12, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Persistent removal of sourced content without explanation by various South Korean IPs. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 13:12, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: Change it to pending protection please. You chose indefinite for semi-protection, but please change it to pending protection indefinite. He is number 1 in the steam team and other pages for members of the steam team are not semi-protected while the James the Red Engine article is pending protected, so do the same for Thomas the Tank Engine article please. Percy James91 (talk) 01:18, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not done – Its status as "number 1" only makes it more exposed to vandalism, edit-warring, fan cruft, etc. Favonian (talk) 11:24, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

The Israeli casaulties have changed over the night with new Iranian strikes. I want to change the Current Casaulties from 24 Killed to 53, i have the sources needed. And to change the 2,345 injured to 2,585 injured for which i also have sources. Pkk123477 (talk) 18:53, 19 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Please correct the Iranian civilian casualties in paragraph three. It was recently changed without reason from 200 to 600. The sources currently listed actually say 200 but this is out off date. HRANA's latest figure is actually over 400. The source is presently used in the infobox for their own estimate of 1,054 total deaths. The Iranian government hasn't released updated figures so that should be removed until they have an estimate. I suggest adding the sentence:

"According to the anti-government Human Rights Activists in Iran News Agency, over 1,000 Iranians were killed including at least 400 civilians."
