Wow!
[edit]Just thought I'd stop by to say "Wow". I haven't been so active in recent months, but when I come back from time to tine I see all your great work on historical football topics. It is great to see someone relatively new working so diligently in this area and generating quality work. Cbl62 (talk) 16:55, 3 August 2021 (UTC)

Barnstar for you!

The College football Barnstar | |
For creating and expanding high-quality content on college football players and teams and for diligent research and advocacy in saving many notable articles from deletion. In a relatively short period since 2021, the 823 articles you created have received more than 3.7 million page views! These contributions include 21 college football biographies with more than 25,000 views:
I look forward to your next contributions. Cbl62 (talk) 17:08, 9 July 2023 (UTC) |
- Thank you very much, Cbl62 - this means a lot coming from you! And wow, I'm surprised my creations have received that many views - when I joined back in November 2020 (initially only to write two things), I would never have guessed I would go on to create things read by millions! BeanieFan11 (talk) 17:19, 9 July 2023 (UTC)
- Page views are an indication that people care for the subjects about which you are writing. You garnered 3.7 million views in just two-and-a-half years. That total will continue to grow in the years (and decades) ahead. Keep it up! Cbl62 (talk) 17:25, 9 July 2023 (UTC)
I beg a boon of thee
[edit]Hi there! I've stumbled onto a new user at User talk:Themarkchristie who really wants his historical team Draft:Perth Panthers to have a page on Wikipedia. Could you point him in the right direction, or perhaps find him someone who can help him help us? It's a bit outside of my wheelhouse. I did my part by declining the speedy tag. There's something there, and you will recognize it better than I. BusterD (talk) 13:37, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- I'll take a look. BeanieFan11 (talk) 17:32, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- Ooh... from a quick newspaper search this team indeed looks quite notable – I'll see what I can do to eventually get this made into a real article. BeanieFan11 (talk) 18:00, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- I liked it at first glance. Might pickup a new user if we are nice enough. Thanks! BusterD (talk) 20:10, 14 December 2024 (UTC)

Welcome to the 2025 WikiCup!
[edit]Happy New Year and Happy New WikiCup! The 2025 competition has just begun and all article creators, expanders, improvers and reviewers are welcome to take part. Even if you are a novice editor, we hope the WikiCup will give you a chance to improve your editing skills as you go. If you have already signed up, your submissions page can be found here. If you have not yet signed up, you can add your name here and the judges will set up your submissions page ready for you to take part. Any questions on the scoring, rules or anything else should be directed to one of the judges, or posted to the WikiCup talk page.
For the 2025 WikiCup, we've implemented several changes to the scoring system. The highest-ranking contestants will now receive tournament points at the end of each round, and final rankings are decided by the number of tournament points each contestant has. If you're busy and can't sign up in January, don't worry: Signups are now open throughout the year. To make things fairer for latecomers, the lowest-scoring contestants will no longer be eliminated at the end of each round.
The first round will end on 26 February. The judges for the WikiCup this year are: Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs · email), Epicgenius (talk · contribs · email), Frostly (talk · contribs · email), Guerillero (talk · contribs · email) and Lee Vilenski (talk · contribs · email). Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Skating
[edit]Helli @BeanieFan11 I thought I would message you regarding the current discussions surrounding ice skating AFDs. I don't know if you have noticed (if you haven't then this message is pointless!) but I have been involved with some of these discussions and have voted delete on several. As you have been so friendly and helpful towards me in the past, I wanted to assure you that I have not, and never would, vote to delete any article without doing the best checking for coverage that I could. As you may recall I had a number of my articles deleted last year and I would never back deleting anyone else's work without thought as has been suggested by Moscow Connection. Anyway I just wanted to offer and explanation as I would not want you to think badly of me. Best wishes. Shrug02 (talk) 17:06, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for the message. I appreciate that there's at least someone doing decent searches for some of these ice skating articles, and I do agree that a decent number may be non-notable. My main concerns with the user's AFDs is that there's such a large number of them (well over over 300 going back to May, mostly in a few massive batches, which included one of 50 AFDs in 30 minutes) and for many of them, the only users to comment are ones I don't trust as much to do a proper search. A good example of what I mean would be this: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jill Vernekohl. A German national silver medalist from the offline era which receives only two comments – a "redirect" without explanation and another "redirect" whose only rationale is "Should not remain an article." Another example would be Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Niko Ulanovsky: two !votes, one of which is "Fail to meet criteria ... No medals ... No sources which meet WP:V," and the other is "per above." I don't think, in those examples, a proper search was done, whereas sometimes when newspaper searches were done, the subject turned out to have clear notability, such as in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Barbie Smith. But anyways, thanks for the explanation. BeanieFan11 (talk) 17:56, 9 January 2025 (UTC)

[edit]Hi BeanieFan11, thanks for participating in the WikiCup. You recently submitted Template:Did you know nominations/Allen DeGraffenreid (wide receiver) for DYK points. Although this is a double hook, you may claim points only for Allen DeGraffenreid (offensive lineman), because you were a significant contributor to that article. Question
[edit]I assume you saw Leaf Trading Cards? I couldn't really find anything either. Of course, that doesn't mean that there's not anything out there. They've been a major card company for awhile now, maybe the sources are just gone. It doesn't take too long for links on the internet to go dead. I worry that will be a problem in the future; how are we going to save digital-only newspapers if there is no physical backup? ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 15:05, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
- I did come across it. I came across a few sources, e.g. on newspapers.com [1] [2] [3], and the Dallas Morning News [4] [5], not sure if its really enough though. BeanieFan11 (talk) 18:50, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
- With Leaf deleted, people will probably assume the 2010-present Leaf and the old Leaf are the same thing. That's probably better for marketing purposes on Leaf's end anyway if people don't know the actual truth, lol. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 19:31, 9 February 2025 (UTC)

Hi, friend!
[edit]I see you started a draft for Philadelphia Eagles halfback Ed Storm last month. I was wondering if you'd mind terribly if I started a piece on him in mainspace today. It looks like you've just got a couple links up so far and it'd be easier for me to just start fresh. Best regards, —tim /// Carrite (talk) 18:27, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Carrite: Hmm... I was hoping to turn that draft into a GA, though I guess it isn't that big a deal if you start a mainspace article on him... How about this as a compromise: you give me 'till tomorrow at this time, and if not finished by then, I'll let you write the article? Deal? :) BeanieFan11 (talk) 18:59, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
- Sounds fine. I'll leave ya a couple graphics on the draft page. —tim /// Carrite (talk) 19:03, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
- Don't feel rushed, if you're moving on him, that's all that matters. There are plenty of biographies to work on! —tim //// Carrite (talk) 19:04, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
- Took a little bit longer than 24 hours, but I published my 2,500-word Ed Storm bio :). By the way @Carrite:, I've seen you upload a lot of pictures of old game programs – I was wondering where you find them all? BeanieFan11 (talk) 20:51, 6 February 2025 (UTC)

Scorpions13256
[edit]This is Scorpions13256 returning to Wikipedia under a new name with permission from the arbitration committee. How do you find references for foreign olympic athletes? I want to help you out. I also want to help you out again with those NFL IP drafts. The Knowledge Pirate (talk) 10:54, 7 February 2025 (UTC)
- @The Knowledge Pirate: Nice to see you back. As for the IP, they haven't done that much recently, but they still submit a few from time to time. I still have a list of the ones that haven't been accepted at User:BeanieFan11/IP draft tracker#Still in draftspace, although many have been deleted as abandoned. Now, when it comes to foreign Olympic athletes, for me, personally, I do the following... :)
- If their name is in English script, I search their name in quotes on Google and by each possible way their name could have been reported (e.g. for someone named John Carlos Beanie, I'd do "John Carlos" & "John Beanie" & "John Carlos Beanie"); if their name is common I'll also add the word of the sport they compete in to the search in the language of their country (for sport shooters, "'John Beanie' tiro" if Spanish, "'John Beanie' tiratore" if Italian, tireur if French, etc.). I'll also look up their names in Google Books and perhaps add the sport to the search there as well. Then I'll look in Newspapers.com and, if available, a newspaper archive for their country (I've got a couple decent ones at User:BeanieFan11/Beanie's source guide); if there's no specific newspaper archive for their country, I'll also check the Internet Archive's "texts" collection (there's a few countries which they've got decent archives for).
- If the name is not in English script, e.g. Arabic, I'll search their name the ways listed above in Google & Google Books. I'll hit "select all" for all the results and then copy-paste them into Google Translate to see if any are potentially coverage of the athlete I'm looking for. I may search their English name in Newspapers.com, and if Arabic I'll also check the Internet Archive in their Arabic name (archive.org has a collection of Arabic newspapers).
- So there you have it: Beanie's in-depth guide to searching for Olympic athletes
BeanieFan11 (talk) 17:56, 7 February 2025 (UTC)
- That's kind of what I was already doing. Good to know that those Arabic articles are salvageable. I still have access to Newspapers.com, but I do not have access to the Newspaper archive until April. The Knowledge Pirate (talk) 18:11, 7 February 2025 (UTC)
- @The Knowledge Pirate: If you want to help out with Olympians, do you think when you get the chance you could take a look at some of the PROD-ed articles at Wikipedia:WikiProject Olympics/Article alerts? There's a ton, more added every day, and I'm having difficulty getting to all of them in time. BeanieFan11 (talk) 16:43, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
- Ah, so that is where you find them. I'll do what I can. The Knowledge Pirate (talk) 16:46, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
- Similar to the IP draft list, I'm currently compiling a list of deleted or redirected Olympians from the past few months that I don't think any decent search was performed for (only including PRODs, not AFD). BeanieFan11 (talk) 16:57, 19 February 2025 (UTC)

AfD from pre-internet era
[edit]Hello, it's Clariniie again. As a regular participant of AfD relating to people who mostly spent their career in the pre-internet era, especially athletes, what can be considered ones? In my opinion, such subjects that come to mind are athletes born 1975 and below. ⋆。˚꒰ঌ Clara A. Djalim ໒꒱˚。⋆ 11:19, 18 February 2025 (UTC)
- I think usually people who've spent the majority of their career prior to about 2000-2005 are "pre-internet" – though it can vary a little by country, e.g. a decent number of U.S. news websites from those years are still accessible, while e.g. Niger I don't think has any archives before the mid 2010s. BeanieFan11 (talk) 17:32, 18 February 2025 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Even for stuff from the internet era, just Googling for sources isn't enough to determine notability. Nearly 40% of web pages from 10 years ago are no longer accessible (2024) "This phenomenon is called "digital decay," a sensation in which links to content across the internet, on government and news websites, on the "references" section of Wikipedia, and even X (then known as Twitter) no longer work. The 404 message is becoming all too common." ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 17:42, 18 February 2025 (UTC)

[edit]Regarding this comment: I'm not sure to whom you're directing your question? It's of course entirely up to you to decide if you have the capacity to run a competition. I look forward to see articles being improved! isaacl (talk) 04:24, 20 February 2025 (UTC)

WikiCup 2025 March newsletter
[edit]The first round of the 2025 WikiCup ended on 26 February. As a reminder, we are no longer disqualifying the lowest-scoring contestants; everyone who competed in round 1 will advance to round 2 unless they have withdrawn or been banned from Wikipedia. Instead, the contestants with the highest round-point totals now receive tournament points at the end of each round. Unlike the round points in the main WikiCup table, which are reset at the end of each round, tournament points are carried over between rounds and can only be earned if a competitor is among the top 16 round-point scorers. This table shows all competitors who have received tournament points so far.
Round 1 was very competitive compared with previous years; two contestants scored more than 1,000 round points, and the top 16 contestants all scored more than 500 round points. The following competitors scored more than 800 round points:
Gog the Mild (submissions) with 1,168 round points, mainly from 4 featured articles and 4 good articles on old military history, in addition to an assortment of GA and FA reviews.
Generalissima (submissions) with 1,095 round points, mainly from 2 FAs, 2 featured lists, 8 GAs, and 16 Did You Know articles mainly on historical topics.
BeanieFan11 (submissions), with 866 round points from 20 GAs, 23 DYKs, and 2 In the News articles primarily about athletes.
Sammi Brie (submissions), with 846 round points from 16 GAs about radio and TV stations, 45 GA reviews, and 3 DYKs.
Hey man im josh (submissions), with 816 round points from 5 FLs about sports and Olympic topics, 46 FL reviews, 3 ITN articles, and a large number of bonus points.
MaranoFan (submissions), with 815 round points primarily from 3 FAs and 1 GA about music, in addition to 9 article reviews.
The full scores for round 1 can be seen here. During this round, contestants have claimed 18 featured articles, 26 featured lists, 1 featured-topic article, 197 good articles, 38 good-topic articles and more than 100 Did You Know articles. In addition, competitors have worked on 23 In the News articles, and they have conducted nearly 550 reviews.
Remember that any content promoted after 26 February but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2, which begins on 1 March. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Writing articles about old athletes.
[edit]Hi, I kindly request tips on doing research on athletes from the past. Looking at your user talk page looks like you are pretty good at this. How do you go about finding high quality sources for athletes when the standard databases of the Wikipedia Library are exhausted (ProQuest, newspapers.com and newspaperarchive)? Cheers, -1ctinus📝🗨 02:31, 3 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, @1ctinus:, it can vary a little based on where the athlete's from, but I give an explanation for my usual search process in the above #Scorpions13256 section. If one's available, I often go to different newspaper archives for relevant countries (e.g. Trove for Australia, E-NewspaperArchives.ch for Switzerland), though unfortunately for some there's no online archives (particularly most countries from Africa, much of Asia). BTW, taking a look at Robert Oliver (cyclist), which you mentioned at the Olympics talk page, I searched PapersPast (a decent New Zealand newspaper archive) and found a story on him here. [edit]Greetings. I don’t intend to get in the middle of this any more than I have in restoring content that was errantly deleted due to a misunderstanding of the appropriate Wikipedia Manual of Style policy. If there are any more reverts of mention of Storm’s brothers, please refer the editor to the Wikipedia manual of style section on notability when restoring them. Good luck. 2601:196:180:DC0:C9FD:7CAD:B5A3:2738 (talk) 18:30, 13 March 2025 (UTC)

- Ugh, I keep forgetting about this. Maybe next month when I have more time I'll get it undeleted to expand my stub bio of him... BeanieFan11 (talk) 02:04, 4 April 2025 (UTC)
I saw some delete !votes at that AfD that were basing it on NTRACK and NATH. So we're not allowed to vote keep based off NSPORTS stuff (everything has to pass GNG) but others can use the criteria there to vote delete without even looking for sources? Yeah, that's totally fair. I doubt there was any discussion about what's leftover of NTRACK anyway. Even when 100% of NBA players in history were shown as passing GNG, it wasn't good enough to reinstate NBASKETBALL, so NTRACK doesn't mean squat. NSPORT should just be deleted if people are going to use that leftover undiscussed criteria to delete stuff. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 03:54, 5 April 2025 (UTC)
- NSPORT is broken and a mess of nonsense at this point. The only possible benefit is passing NATH + one piece of SIGCOV can occasionally result in a keep that would otherwise be delete on the basis that 'fails GNG', although I've only ever seen a small handful of outcomes like that. This was the list of foreign born Packers I could come up with (noting that they aren't all European and aren't all stubs). If I stumble on any others, I will let you know. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 19:57, 11 April 2025 (UTC)

April 2025
[edit] Your recent editing history at United Arab Emirates at the 2000 Summer Olympics shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Juan Astorquia
[edit]Hello. Do you think Juan Astorquia has any chances of becoming a GA? Kind regards. Barr Theo (talk) 02:19, 17 April 2025 (UTC)
- I'll look into it tomorrow. BeanieFan11 (talk) 02:24, 17 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Barr Theo: It may have a chance – one thing you'll need to do though is establish that all of the sources are reliable. E.g. a heavily used source seems to be memoriasclubdeportivodebilbao.blogspot.com – what makes that blog reliable? BeanieFan11 (talk) 19:12, 17 April 2025 (UTC)
- I have fixed that. Anything else? Barr Theo (talk) 22:08, 17 April 2025 (UTC)
- I do still see a citation to that site (ref 16) – anything which cannot be verified by a reliable source should be removed. The prose I read seemed okay (the captions --
Juanito Astorquia, as always, poses with the ball
, do seem a little informal - you may want to just say e.g. "Astorquia, posing with the ball") – I haven't looked all that thoroughly at the sourcing, but if you're confident that each source is reliable and that everything's verified, you could probably nominate it. I see you also noticed that user who just closed the AfD for this article created their account today and clearly doesn't have the authority to close the discussion. What does one do about that? Is it just simple vandalism, or am I missing something? It seems clear that the AfD is headed to a "no consensus," but it doesn't appear that it should have been closed by Parchirei, yes? I don't want to keep reverting if I'm reading this wrong, of course. Anwegmann (talk) 03:06, 22 April 2025 (UTC)
- Definitely vandalism. See this AfD close where they use someone else's username. JTtheOG (talk) 03:10, 22 April 2025 (UTC)
- Ah yes, I didn't even realize they were using someone else's signature. Wow. Thanks for your help with this. Anwegmann (talk) 03:26, 22 April 2025 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) x2 There's a long-banned user that periodically returns by creating socks that "close" AFD discussions. Usually, they're noticed pretty quick and blocked. I was going to suggest Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism but it looks like someone else already took the user there. BeanieFan11 (talk) 03:12, 22 April 2025 (UTC)
- Yeah, once I saw the pattern in their contribs, it was clear. Very annoying. I was going to do the same. Glad we were of the same mind. Anwegmann (talk) 03:24, 22 April 2025 (UTC)

Note
[edit]I don't know if you're aware but there's a tool that makes it easier to find Packers stubs or any stub article. User:Anomie/linkclassifier highlights stubs, redirects, articles nominated for deletion, etc. in different colors. It's pretty useful. Stubs are purple. I've been using it to find stubs on my userpage. Just fyi. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 19:04, 25 April 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for the note, I hadn't heard of that before. Currently, I've been finding Packers articles to do by going to PFR's list of every Packers player ever and looking through a sorted list of the ones with the least games played :) BeanieFan11 (talk) 19:09, 25 April 2025 (UTC)

WikiCup 2025 May newsletter
[edit]The second round of the 2025 WikiCup ended on 28 April at 23:59 UTC. To reiterate what we said in the previous newsletter, we are no longer disqualifying contestants based on how many points (now known as round points) they received. Instead, the contestants with the highest round-point totals now receive tournament points at the end of each round. These tournament points are carried over between rounds, and can only be earned if a competitor is among the top 16 round-point scorers at the end of each round. This table shows all competitors who have received tournament points so far. Everyone who competed in round 2 will advance to round 3 unless they have withdrawn or been banned.
Round 2 was quite competitive. Four contestants scored more than 1,000 round points, and eight scored more than 500 points (including one who has withdrawn). The following competitors scored at least 800 points:
BeanieFan11 (submissions) with 1,233 round points from 24 good articles, 28 Did you know articles, and one In the news nomination, mainly about athletes and politicians
Thebiguglyalien (submissions) with 1,127 round points, almost entirely from two high-multiplier featured articles on Black Widow (Natasha Romanova) and Grace Coolidge, in addition to two GAs and two reviews
History6042 (submissions) with 1,088 round points from four featured lists about Michelin-starred restaurants, nine good articles and a good topic mostly on Olympic-related subjects, seven ITN articles, and dozens of reviews
Gog the Mild (submissions) with 1,085 round points from three FAs, one GA, and four DYKs on military history, as well as 18 reviews
Arconning (submissions) with 887 round points, mostly from four FLs, six GAs, and seven DYKs on Olympic topics, along with more than two dozen reviews
In addition, we would like to recognize Generalissima (submissions) for her efforts; she scored 801 round points but withdrew before the end of the round.
The full scores for round 2 can be seen here. During this round, contestants have claimed 13 featured articles, 20 featured lists, 4 featured-topic articles, 138 good articles, 7 good-topic articles, and more than 100 Did You Know articles. In addition, competitors have worked on 19 In the News articles, and they have conducted nearly 300 reviews.
Remember that any content promoted after 28 April but before the start of Round 3 can be claimed in Round 3. Jeremy Crawshaw review
[edit]@BeanieFan11: Re: your DYK nomination of Jeremy Crawshaw:
- Why is there a difference in height and weight in the infobox and the pre-draft measurement box?
- The pre-draft measurement box is what he measured at during the NFL Combine, whereas I think the weight in the infobox (from ESPN) is slightly more recent.
- Visually, it feels odd to have the pre-draft measurables box at the top of the "Professional career" section without an intro phrase. I've never used that template - is there a way to move it to the right of the prose?
- I think I've always seen the box at the top of the section – I don't think it can be moved to the side.
- I added an attribution to the claim of ranking 7th in the recruit class of 2020.
- Hook is simple but effective.
— ERcheck (talk) 15:58, 10 May 2025 (UTC)
- @ERcheck: I responded, though I think usually things like this should be on the review page, rather than my talk page. BeanieFan11 (talk) 16:39, 10 May 2025 (UTC)
- I considered putting my comments on the review page. However, most of these are commments/question are based on my lack of expertise in the biographies of football players, rather than specific DYK issues. — ERcheck (talk) 19:53, 10 May 2025 (UTC)

[edit]... that Seaman Squyres was a jack of all trades? ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 17:40, 15 May 2025 (UTC)
- Seaman Squyres... interesting. BeanieFan11 (talk) 19:46, 15 May 2025 (UTC)
- Trying to one up me? I thought I won the day with "Seaman Squyres" but then you went and made "Maximilian Mang". Epic name. :) ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 01:09, 16 May 2025 (UTC)
... that Dolphins kicker Ian Howfield didn't know he wasn't an American citizen? ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 18:01, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
- Interesting, and wow that is a lot of teams played for. BeanieFan11 (talk)
- Also, he became a citizen in 1989. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 18:12, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
... that Leon Hatziioannou played for two teams in the same weekend? ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 15:34, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
- Impressive! That could be a decent DYK nomination I think. BeanieFan11 (talk) 15:43, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks! I thought about it but someone might give me a hard time about Friday night not technically being "the weekend". ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 15:50, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
- Maybe something like ... that Canadian football player Leon Hatziioaanou appeared in games for two teams in three days? BeanieFan11 (talk) 15:51, 22 May 2025 (UTC)

- Maybe... you could always propose that and list an ALT hook (alternative hook) with it. BeanieFan11 (talk) 16:06, 22 May 2025 (UTC)

- I've seen the Dolly Gray imposter thing before too but it never gets old. That's hilarious. Dolly Gray is forever immortalized on the Packers all-time roster even though no one knows who he is. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 18:49, 23 May 2025 (UTC)

Kouami N'Dri
[edit]Why would you think that is a appropriate merge when the consensus at a deletion discussion was not to merge, but to delete? You had an entire week to raise your objection to the outcome at the AfD, but circumventing community consensus that Olympians are not notable simply through participation unilaterally through an undiscussed merge does not appear to be in line with WP:IDHT and in this case WP:DICC. I'm open to having a discussion regarding a possible WP:ATD but I don't think your merge is an appropriate way of going about things. Let'srun (talk) 23:36, 16 May 2025 (UTC)
- There was no consensus against including the content and no one mentioned any opposition to including some of the content there. Adding a few sentences to another article is not "circumventing community consensus that Olympians are not notable". There is no requirement that a discussion need to take place to add a few sentences about Ivory Coast's Olympians to the article discussing Ivory Coast's Olympians. Do you have any actual reason that we should not include the content, that all who want to learn about N'Dri should get nothing instead of something, aside from "no consensus"? BeanieFan11 (talk) 23:41, 16 May 2025 (UTC)
- Saying that you added "a few sentences" is quite misleading, since you pretty much just merged everything that was in the original N'Dri article. I'll repeat it, there was no discussion regarding a merge, and if there had been I would have raised concerns regarding adding WP:UNDUE weight to that article from what you merged there. Saying there wasn't opposition to a merge is extremely misleading when it never came up in the AfD whatsoever. If it had been suggested by you there, we could have had a discussion regarding the merits of merging to that target, another target, and what exactly to merge or not to merge, but you never participated in it. Perhaps use the article talk page to see if there is consensus for including that content somewhere? Let'srun (talk) 10:59, 17 May 2025 (UTC)
- What's UNDUE about adding a paragraph of sports info about an Olympian at a very short and stubby "Ivory Coast at the Olympics" article? What else is supposed to be at such articles? I heavily doubt anyone is going to participate (except perhaps you) if I open a discussion at the Ivory Coast at the 1972 Olympics talk page about "should any content about the Ivory Coast Olympians be included in the article about Ivory Coast Olympians?", given how obscure a page it is. BeanieFan11 (talk) 16:50, 17 May 2025 (UTC)
- UNDUE notes that it can be given in multiple ways, "including but not limited to the depth of detail, the quantity of text, prominence of placement, the juxtaposition of statements, and the use of imagery". I think your merge as it was falls at least into the first two ways without a question and arguably the third as well. A note that the subject participated in another Olympics is fine, but not biographical info that was sourced to a source that IMO is not reliable. I could perhaps go along with something like what was done at [[8]] for Armand Biniakounou as a possible compromise. Let'srun (talk) 19:35, 17 May 2025 (UTC)

You are invited to participate in The World Destubathon. It's currently planned for June 16-July 13, partly due to me having hayfever during that period and not wanting to run it throughout July or August in the hotter summer and will be run then unless multiple editors object. There is currently $3338 going into it, with $500 the top prize. As 250 countries and entities is too much to patrol, entries will be by user, but there is $500 going into prizes for editors covering the most countries. Sign up if interested! ♦ Dr. Blofeld

Olympian AFDs
[edit]@BeanieFan11 I'm not experienced enough to do such things but if there is a way to suggest a limit on the number of Olympian, or in fact any same subject, AFDs at one time then I'd support it. - Seems all a bit talkie talkie and bureaucracy to me. Perhaps it's not worth trying. Anxioustoavoid (talk) 00:22, 31 May 2025 (UTC)

DYK for Leo Franciosi
[edit]On 2 June 2025, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Leo Franciosi, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that butcher Leo Franciosi was also a four-time Olympian? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Leo Franciosi. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Leo Franciosi), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
