Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.
Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level
Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level
Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here |

Semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content. Annh07 (talk) 16:35, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
User(s) blocked: 118.179.25.74/31 (talk · contribs). for two weeks. Daniel Case (talk) 20:59, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
Reason: There's an edit war going on right now, now that the game is delisted; requesting protection to curb the edit war MannysMyName (talk) 16:44, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
- Very minor thing, but @MannysMyName, do you mean MultiVersus (video game)? As just MultiVersus is a redirect with a single edit. ☩ (Babysharkboss2) 17:11, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
- Um...no. I don't even know when [[MultiVersus (video game)]] (as a link) was created. MannysMyName (talk) 20:13, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
Declined Resubmit with the correct link if this seems to be a problem still (which, honestly, it doesn't seem to me to be. Daniel Case (talk) 21:01, 1 June 2025 (UTC)

Beginning of van/edits: Kindly review for Pending changes or atleast the silver protection as the subject is currently related with a recent international event; which she is a part of as it's winner. There are several such edits which are being reverted but continuous reverting is not allowed for page-watching editors like me. The change in the event has seen several NPOV edits and others which may or may not adhere to the guidelines. Initial-level protection of either level will help us updating the page with utmost care. Semi-protected for a period of one week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Daniel Case (talk) 21:04, 1 June 2025 (UTC)

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Disruptive editing from IP address. QalasQalas (talk) 21:43, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protected for a period of one week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Daniel Case (talk) 21:07, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – PP recently expired on this page (was locked after warring [refusing to take to Talk] by a barrage of new accounts, socks, IPs stemming from the recent India-Pakistan conflict). Asking for an indef here, as the disruption is unlikely to stop, as seen by the another IP shortly after the last PP expired. Gotitbro (talk) 00:00, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protected for a period of two weeks, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Daniel Case (talk) 21:10, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – IP edit warriors reinserting questionable content and who refuse to take to Talk despite being called to do so. Gotitbro (talk) 04:37, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. It seems to have stopped yesterday. Daniel Case (talk) 21:17, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
Reason: editwarring and return of disruptive IP blocked from a page recently [1] Magherbin (talk) 07:34, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
User(s) blocked: 2600:387:0:0:0:0:0:0/43 (talk · contribs). Expanded from existing /52 and this article added to partial block. CTOPS notice added to talk page. Daniel Case (talk) 21:25, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing. Mellk (talk) 08:57, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
Reason: High level of IP vandalism CLalgo (talk) 11:37, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Chronic IP vandalism following Champions League final. ser! (chat to me - see my edits) 11:57, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
Reason: There is a high level of IP vandalism and even users who have made accounts purely dedicated to edit warring on the Haz Al-Din Wikipedia page, with both supporters and opponents of Haz Al-Din and the American Communist Party doing such. The Wikipedia page for Jackson Hinkle is extended-confirmed protected, and the page for Haz Al-Din probably needs it too, or at least semi-protection. ApricotAvalanche037 (talk) 13:08, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protected for a period of three days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Arguments for protecting a page should be limited to what goes on on that page; pointing to the protection applied to other pages about similar or related subjects is frankly just another flavor of WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS IMO. Daniel Case (talk) 20:40, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Recent political chaos over origin of Kannada and Tamil language. IPs are going to disrupt it alot. Ɔþʱʏɾɪʊs⚔ 13:09, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protected for a period of 4 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Ymblanter (talk) 21:03, 1 June 2025 (UTC)

Already protected by administrator Mattythewhite. Ymblanter (talk) 21:08, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry. M.Bitton (talk) 18:46, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
User(s) blocked. Most recent disruptors. If it resumes with other accounts then we have IMO grounds for an indef protection under the de facto CTOPS WP:CT/MAGHREB. Daniel Case (talk) 20:42, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Repeated addition of dubiously sourced critiques and attacks on a BLP. Would need full protection for a time - David Gerard (talk) 18:55, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Renvoy (talk) 19:15, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
- Support, suggest ECP protection due to being a contentious topic. Ecrusized (talk) 19:23, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
Declined since article has been moved to Operation Spider's Web. Should request this under that name. Daniel Case (talk) 20:45, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Requesting indefinite or meaningfully lengthy semi-protection – after repeated edit warring from different IPs and two possible sockpuppets, there's a risk of further edit warring from IPs and/or a potential third newly-registered editor. Semi-protection would prevent this from happening. — AFC Vixen 🦊 20:14, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
Declined, all users editing the article since March are at least confirmed, semi-protection is not going to do anything, and I do not see any reason for extended confirmed protection for the time being. Ymblanter (talk) 21:07, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Long, stacked edit history of reverted edits and vandalism here and there. Currently has pending changes protection, but an increase to semi-protection looks needed. Carlinal (talk) 20:35, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protected indefinitely. Will log at CTOPS under WP:GENSEX. I knew we'd reach this point eventually. Daniel Case (talk) 20:50, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. CutlassCiera 20:39, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
Current requests for reduction in protection level
Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Reason: It has been 11 years since this page was semi protected. The tournament itself held 15 years ago, so I don't think the page will be very popular or vandalized. Also, articles about the next two editions—2014 FIFA World Cup & 2018 FIFA World Cup—are not protected. Therefore, I suggest we cn try to remove the protection and see what happened. The Seal F1 (talk) 14:03, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
- Seems reasonable to me. Could you try discussion with the protecting admin first? If they decline or take more than a few days to respond, your welcome to ask me to review or re-request here. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 15:26, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi. The administrator who protected that page has made only a few edits over the past month — all of them related to "cleaning up" their talk page, so I'm not sure if this is a good idea. That's why Im asking here.The Seal F1 (talk) 15:52, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
- It's not uncommon for admins to be inactive for a month but still respondent to pings. I figured we should attempt a ping. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 15:58, 29 May 2025 (UTC)

Current requests for edits to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
