Wikipedia:Requests for page protection
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.
Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level
Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level
Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here |

Temporary semi-protection: IP vandalism – edit warring, and addition of misinformation. 122.150.118.203 (talk) 04:05, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Persistent unreferenced edits from IP users and also newly registered accounts. Hotwiki (talk) 08:25, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – This page keeps getting POV edits by unregistered or newbie editors, typically by adding WP:TERRORIST but also other fake information and occasional deletion of sourced content. Kautilya3 (talk) 10:58, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Persistent IP vandalism following her passing on June 17, 2025. The article is experiencing repeated unsourced edits and speculation, disrupting accuracy and stability. Semi-protection is requested to allow experienced editors to maintain neutrality and proper sourcing. ItsShandog (talk) 11:27, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
- Automated comment: A request for protection/unprotection for one or more pages in this request was recently made, and was denied at some point within the last 8 days.—cyberbot ITalk to my owner:Online 11:31, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protected for a period of 3 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Favonian (talk) 19:09, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
Reason: False information is being repeatedly added to the Wikipedia page of Ms. Ashwini KP, a public figure who currently serves as a United Nations Special Rapporteur. Due to the high-profile nature of her position and the ongoing addition of misleading content, I respectfully request that this page be considered for protection to prevent further vandalism or misinformation. Work2bedone (talk) 13:04, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
- (Non-administrator comment) @Work2bedone: you have been edit-warring on that article and your changes have been reverted now by several editors. Also, can you not accuse other editors of spreading "false information"? Thank you. —Fortuna, imperatrix 13:46, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
- Because they are writing false information in the page which is misleading. Work2bedone (talk) 13:52, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
User(s) partially blocked: Work2bedone (talk · contribs) (from Ashwini K.P.). 24 hours for edit warring. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 17:42, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
Indefinite semi-protection: Child protection (WP:CHILDPROTECT). Since this is a legal policy, it overrides WP:NOPREEMPT. RaschenTechner (talk) 13:26, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
- it should override WP:NOPREEMPT RaschenTechner (talk) 13:27, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Continued drive-by IP edits that change sourced text. This page probably needs permanent protection instead of repeated temporary protection. – Jonesey95 (talk) 14:09, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – IPs keeps removing sourced info. Nswix (talk) 14:11, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Persistent disruptive editing by anonymous editors of anticipated, upcoming music release. livelikemusic (TALK!) 14:40, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
Temporary pending changes: Persistent vandalism – IP vandalism resumed after semi-protection expired, though a few IP edits made since then have been constructive. Entranced98 (talk) 15:42, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Multiple attempts by anonymous edits to removed a sourced section that it seems one paticular group of people / person dislike. SnowyWatcher (talk) 16:03, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Kindly Increase the Protection Level of Iran's Page Because some People are removing Form Of Government And Other things AstroidXD02 (talk) 17:25, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
Declined – No changes to the current protection level are required at this point in time. Chetsford (talk) 18:03, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Due to the high-profile of this case and the recent result of the retrial, I am requesting this be protected for a period of time appropriate. livelikemusic (TALK!) 19:28, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Ymblanter (talk) 21:06, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
Extended confirmed protection: Persistent vandalism – Persistent vandalism and other disruptive editing. » Gommeh (he/him) 20:19, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protected for a period of 2 weeks, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Ymblanter (talk) 21:03, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Continued disruptive additions by IPs and new editor (likely same person) of unsourced content with refusals to reliably source these claims. Zinnober9 (talk) 20:21, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protected for a period of 2 weeks, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Ymblanter (talk) 21:01, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Reason: Indefinitely white-locked nearly eight years ago for persistent vandalism, doesn't look like its an issue anymore, or at least one that requires indefinite protection. Can't discuss with protecting admin as it was done by User:Ronhjones who has since passed away. Weirdguyz (talk) 08:02, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
- (Non-administrator comment) The PC seems to be working as it should to deal with BLP violations and other disruption, which there hasn't been a shortage of recently. I think it's safer to keep the protection at the moment. Entranced98 (talk) 11:52, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
Not unprotected. Given the number of reverts of anonymous edits this year, one could argue that protection should be increased to semi. ~Anachronist (talk) 19:50, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
Comment:: "Protection is working" is not a reason to remove protection. Sumanuil. (talk to me) 09:20, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Page has been semi-protected for five (5) years now. I think it is time to reduce to pending-changes ... that way IPs and brand-new editors can suggest edits for this important historical figure. I'm currently working on the article, and will be nominating it for GA next week, I'd prefer that it be more open. Noleander (talk) 18:30, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
- Pinging protecting admin @Callanecc Entranced98 (talk) 18:34, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
- .. I now see that I'm supposed to first ask the person that protected it, but I cannot discover who that is. Noleander (talk) 18:34, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
- I, for one, don't think that lowering protection is a good idea. When a subject is taught in schools, its Wikipedia article will be at the receiving end of vandalism. The protection log prior to the current indef demonstrates this. Favonian (talk) 18:42, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
- Sounds good. I retract my suggestion for decreasing the protection. Noleander (talk) 19:13, 18 June 2025 (UTC)

Current requests for edits to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
