Requests for page protection

Current requests for increase in protection level

[edit]
Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or, failing that, the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

  • Todd Chrisley (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)Temporary semi‑protection (1 month) – persistent IP vandalism since the high‑profile events of 27 May 2025 (pardon) and 4 Jun 2025 (TV‑series announcement). — Dahawk04 (talk) 23:42, 5 June 2025 (UTC)
Examples
  • Unsourced claim about pardon terms
  • Defamatory statement repeatedly re‑added after reversion
  • Blanking of the cited sentencing section

Semi-protection: Persistent spam. Fancy Refrigerator (talk) 10:13, 6 June 2025 (UTC)

@Fancy Refrigerator I'll leave this for another admin but just noting I watch this article closely and I've so far left it open as a honey trap. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 10:23, 6 June 2025 (UTC)
Fair enough. Fancy Refrigerator (talk) 10:31, 6 June 2025 (UTC)

Temporary semi or ECP protection: Editor (and some likely MEAT or SOCK accounts) repeatedly adding WP:BLP questionable and WP:OR content already reverted several times in the past couple of weeks despite being advised why doing so is problematic and being encouraged to use the talk page to discuss in edit summaries and at User talk:InklingF#Hulleys of Baslow page. Editor in question is quickly approaching 3RR so perhaps some short-term WP:SEMI or WP:ECP will encourage them to use the article's talk page and help them avoid a block for edit warring. -- Marchjuly (talk) 11:23, 6 June 2025 (UTC)

Reason: Persistent disruptive editing and potential for edit warring due to the politically sensitive nature of the topic. The page has seen repeated attempts to add unsourced or biased content. Requesting semi-protection to prevent further vandalism or biased editing from unregistered users. 78.101.242.98 (talk) 11:48, 6 June 2025 (UTC)

Reason: The article has experienced persistent disruptive editing due to the politically sensitive nature of Akre District, which is disputed between the Iraqi Federal Government and the Kurdistan Regional Government. There have been repeated attempts to add unsourced or biased content, leading to edit warring and potential violations of Wikipedia’s neutrality policy. Semi-protection is requested to prevent further vandalism and ensure the article’s integrity. 78.101.242.98 (talk) 11:50, 6 June 2025 (UTC)

Reason: Persistent unreferenced edits from IP users. Hotwiki (talk) 12:28, 6 June 2025 (UTC)

Current requests for reduction in protection level

[edit]
Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

  • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
  • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
  • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
  • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: In October 2017, this page about a beloved British TV presenter was made "EXTENDED CONFIRMED PROTECTION" due to aggressive sock puppetry. I would like to see this page down to semi-protection due to little vandalism over almost eight years. Frankster04 (talk) 21:29, 5 June 2025 (UTC)

That's circular reasoning. The fact that there is little vandalism simply means the protection is working as it should. Also, did you follow the instructions at the top of this page and ask the protecting administrator? ~Anachronist (talk) 22:35, 5 June 2025 (UTC)

Reason: This article about the UK boxer has been extended confirmed protection since a May 2018 spell of block evasion-induced vandalism. I’d like to see this page downgraded to semi-protection due to both little vandalism and his high profile (many high profile celebs' articles are semi-protected). Frankster04 (talk) 21:33, 5 June 2025 (UTC)

Please read the instructions at the top. You're supposed to ask the protecting administrator first, but I'll do it here. @Orangemike: what say you? ~Anachronist (talk) 22:34, 5 June 2025 (UTC)
For what it is worth, I think this is probably a good candidate to reduce to SP. Dennis Brown - 00:23, 6 June 2025 (UTC)
Sounds good to me. --Orange Mike | Talk 15:26, 6 June 2025 (UTC)

Unprotection: 15 years of protection with little vandalism or disruption and protecting admin is retired. Thepharoah17 (talk) 10:12, 6 June 2025 (UTC)

Reason: Only 56 transclusions. Not enough for template protection. 2A0E:1D47:9085:D200:B760:276F:5BA6:1929 (talk) 10:31, 6 June 2025 (UTC)

Current requests for edits to a protected page

[edit]
Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

  • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
  • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
  • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
  • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
  • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
