  • Tosin Salako (talk · contribs · deleted · filter log · SUL · Google) (block · soft · promo · cause · bot · hard · spam · vandal) – Violation of the username policy as a misleading username. Has declared that they are not Tosin Salako but are representing him professionally. They must change their user name. The only way to ensure this is a warning shot. 🇵🇸‍🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦‍🇵🇸 21:04, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
The account is representing an artist by that name. We allow real names, but in this case it's their employer's/client's real name rather than their own. What do others think? Secretlondon (talk) 22:43, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
Well, WP:REALNAME states Do not edit under a name that is likely to imply that you are (or are related to) a specific, identifiable person, unless it is your real name. Think that's pretty clear. For example, what if Salako splits from this person. Who controls the account? — rsjaffe 🗣️ 22:51, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
On top of that, WP:REALNAME states: "If a username implies that the user is, or is related to, a notable, identifiable or well-known person, the account may be blocked as a precaution against impersonation until the user's proof of identity is provided." Anyone can claim to be a representative of a well-known person, so such a claim would also require proof to satisfy this portion of the policy. I'm holding off from immediately blocking due to the discussion initiated at User talk:Tosin Salako § Immediate action required, but the account should be blocked if its username is not changed to a policy-compliant one in a reasonable amount of time. — Newslinger talk 21:35, 6 June 2025 (UTC)
Should be blocked if they are not the named person(even if they are a representative). 331dot (talk) 09:10, 7 June 2025 (UTC)
They've not edited since 3 June. Secretlondon (talk) 13:53, 7 June 2025 (UTC)
  • SkibidiOhio5 (talk · contribs · deleted · filter log · SUL · Google) (block · soft · promo · cause · bot · hard · spam · vandal) – Disruptive username. Username sounds similar to the usernames of the so-called "Skibidi vandal", a long-term vandal with multiple accounts that had usernames like this and would vandalize pages by replacing them with the phrase "Goofy ahh brainrot:skull:" among other things. RaschenTechner (talk) 15:24, 7 June 2025 (UTC)
(Non-administrator comment) For what it's worth "skibidi" and "ohio" are normal memes outside of the world of Wikipedia vandalism. I'd honestly be surprised if there weren't multiple legitimate accounts with both words in their username already. This user doesn't appear to have vandalized at all. — Tony talk 01:43, 8 June 2025 (UTC)
This is very common youth slang and is not an indication that they are the Skibidi vandal. They also haven't edited since May. Patient Zerotalk 01:44, 8 June 2025 (UTC)
Stale: This account has not been used in the last 2–3 weeks. Also, not a violation. Target stores sell Skibidi Toilet paraphernalia these days. Cullen328 (talk) 06:02, 8 June 2025 (UTC)
  • OfficialAmericanBeauty (talk · contribs · deleted · filter log · SUL · Google) (block · soft · promo · cause · bot · hard · spam · vandal) – Violation of the username policy as implying shared use (see edits). ☆ Bri (talk) 05:10, 8 June 2025 (UTC)
Not a blatant violation of the username policy. Consider filing a report at the conflict of interest noticeboard. They may be affiliated with the beauty pageant they are editing about, but it's not called "American Beauty". 331dot (talk) 08:25, 8 June 2025 (UTC)
  • Elizaghostwriter23$ (talk · contribs · deleted · filter log · SUL · Google) (block · soft · promo · cause · bot · hard · spam · vandal) – Violation of the username policy as a misleading and promotional username. There's nothing wrong with this username. Where did you get the work-for-hire stuff from? They haven't edited to advertise their services, and haven't promoted their services on the wiki. The username represents an individual. Secretlondon (talk) 11:11, 8 June 2025 (UTC)

Temporary extended protection: Persistent trolling by bigots. Cremastra (Go Oilers!) 20:55, 7 June 2025 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – IP (possibly a range) repeatedly adding unsourced content. DonIago (talk) 03:59, 8 June 2025 (UTC)

Reason: Persistent unreferenced edits from IP users. Hotwiki (talk) 03:59, 8 June 2025 (UTC)

Reason: Kiran Rathod page vandalism

The article Kiran Rathod has recently been subject to repeated malicious edits, falsely labeling her as an adult actress without reliable sources. Some of the content given in the page is also false and I have the consent of the person in subject to raise this issue of maligning, misinformation and labelling her. This violates Wikipedia's BLP (Biographies of Living Persons) policy.

I request semi-protection to prevent further vandalism and defamation. See the edit history for examples.

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – This is a redirect that is relevant to WP:ARBPIA, thanks in advance. (If there's a better place to make a request for redirects please let me know.) Smallangryplanet (talk) 10:05, 8 June 2025 (UTC)

Not done. AFD closed in a merge, hence it is a redirect not worth protecting now. Materialscientist (talk) 13:58, 8 June 2025 (UTC)

Semi-protection (for at least 6 months): Months-long campaign by some unregistered users and possible single-purpose accounts to remove some well-sourced information. The edits rise to the level of vandalism when they subtly rearrange text to bury the fact that they're removing sourced information, while using misleading edit summaries. The accounts may be connected but declared no conflicts of interest. Nemo 11:57, 8 June 2025 (UTC)

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

  • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
  • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
  • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
  • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: Unprotection: This article has been semi-protected since 2007. I doubt this very low-profile article will be the target of a lot of disruption after nearly 18 years have past, having seen only 9 edits from 2020 to 2025 and a whopping 941 views in the past year (see here). The protecting administrator hasn't been active since 2012. This also doesn't fall under WP:CT/A-I, despite the context subject. BriDash9000 (talk) 17:20, 7 June 2025 (UTC)

Unprotection: Article was protected in 2021 for vandalism. I have found no evidence that this vandal is still active, and the article seems unlikely to become a vandalism magnet again over four years later it was also Wikipedia:General sanctions/COVID-19 I think is time to unprotect this article. 47.21.129.66 (talk) 01:09, 8 June 2025 (UTC)

Reason: Unprotection: This article has been semi-protected since 2008 due to apparent sockpuppetry (from this banned user, I suppose). The first Madagascar film was also semi-protected that day for the same reason, but had since been unprotected in 2018. As the first film gains more than twice the amount of views than this one in the past year (see here), doesn't see really much disruptive activity right now, and that sockpuppeteer primarily targeting on Disney articles, perhaps it's time to test whether long-term protection is still needed? The protecting administrator has long retired since 2010. BriDash9000 (talk) 10:40, 8 June 2025 (UTC)

Reason: To make way for AFC accept. CherryPie94 🍒🥧 (talk) 10:55, 8 June 2025 (UTC)

Declined – No changes to the current protection level are required at this point in time. It can be unprotected if the AFC is accepted. OhNoitsJamie Talk 13:02, 8 June 2025 (UTC)

Reason: Unprotection: This article has been semi-protected since 2013, for apparently the same reason as the first 2 Madagascar films. As this article has seen only 13 edits from 2024 to 2025, just 26,474 views in the past year (see here), and that sockpuppeteer primarily targeting on Disney articles, I suppose we could try unprotecting this one. The protecting administrator hasn't been active since at least 2015. BriDash9000 (talk) 11:00, 8 June 2025 (UTC)

Unprotected Per WP:TRYUNPROT (protecting admin hasn't been active for many years). OhNoitsJamie Talk 13:01, 8 June 2025 (UTC)

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

  • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
  • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
  • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
  • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
  • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Autopatrolled

Been around for 10 years. A new page reviewer (see here) encouraged me to request the autopatrolled rights over my page and redirect creation record. ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 22:42, 23 May 2025 (UTC)

Some of your given name and surname pages lack citations for the origins/meanings of the names. For example, the first sentence of Cencio has substantive information that requires a reference. voorts (talk/contributions) 18:59, 26 May 2025 (UTC)
Added refs for Cencio. I’ll be more careful about sourcing info in lists. ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 20:57, 26 May 2025 (UTC)

The user has created an impressive total of 834 articles so far, with only five deletions. Given this strong track record, I believe they fully deserve autopatrolled rights. Thank you. Baqi:) (talk) 20:11, 1 June 2025 (UTC)

I am requesting the autopatrolled user right. I have created 96 articles so far, out of which only 2 have been deleted. Most of my articles are well-sourced biographies, mainly related to the Pakistan Army, with some focused on media personalities. I strive to follow Wikipedia’s notability and sourcing guidelines in all my contributions. Granting me autopatrolled status will help reduce the workload for new page reviewers. You may also consider taking suggestions from the reviewers (JTtheOG, John B123) who frequently review my pages, as they are familiar with the quality and consistency of my work. Behappyyar (talk) 11:02, 2 June 2025 (UTC)

Not done. I have concerns about LLM use, including elsewhere on the project such as this AfD. -- asilvering (talk) 04:19, 7 June 2025 (UTC)
@asilvering (talk) Just to clarify: I have used ChatGPT occasionally to help find potential sources or references, but not all articles were created using AI, and even when AI was used, it was only as an aid — not for blindly generating full content. I understand that relying on AI-generated suggestions still requires careful human review, especially for checking reliability and relevance of sources like Spotify or promotional sites. Hello, I'm doing a lot of repetitive edits on articles, fixing typos, improving grammar and adding consistent info across pages, so I need AutoWikiBrowser to make the process smoother. I especially need it for pages related to railway stations and Chak villages, where I've been working on adding almost same information. - PunjabiEditor69 (talk) 17:38, 23 May 2025 (UTC)

I was hoping to clean up typos along with syntax/formatting, and a tool like AWB seems much easier on the eyes for finding problems like that. If it isn't what I am looking for, I'll request permission removal if that is preferable.  💬 22:19, 4 June 2025 (UTC)

hey so I was on a talk page requesting an edit to a page be done, no one replied so I got bored. I was playing around with my sandbox because I was bored. I made tons of edits goofing around. because I played around with my sandbox I was almost at 515 edits. I saw that and was surprised. I decided to edit pages that require extended confirmed access. And then I edited the page where I left a comment on the talk page because no one was replying. Immediately my extended confirmed rights were revoked. Someone said I was gaming the system to get extended confirmed rights, when that's simply not true. I was just goofing around with my talk page, that's all. Gaming the system wasn't my intention. If it was I would've stopped why did I stop at 511 edits or so, that doesn't make sense. And if I was gaming the system to edit extended access I don't vandalize pages or nothing. I make normal edits to improve pages, so can I have extended confirmed back please GloryToCalifornia (talk) 06:37, 5 June 2025 (UTC)

Requests for mass message sender

Mass message sender

I am running contests like Wikipedia:The World Destubathon. It is a big attempt to eliminate thousands of stubs for every country and topic and want to invite a lot of project members personally with a message. User:DreamRimmer and User:Polygnotus have been very helpful, but it would greatly help me if I was given formal mass message rights as I will likely be running more contests in the future and need the easiest outlet to contact relevant projects and participants who would potentially be interested without having to spend ages doing it manually! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 06:51, 31 May 2025 (UTC)

@Dr. Blofeld: If you mean inviting members of a lot of WikiProjects, as I gather from your talk page, then I think this would go against the guidance that

Mass messages should only be sent to groups of users who are likely to want their attention drawn to the message [...] For other cases, less personalized means of communication are preferred. Wikipedia's primary means of communication is through posts on article talk pages, Wikipedia talk pages, or various noticeboards, including the Village Pump. [...] To reach the members of a given WikiProject, a post on that project's talk page can be used.

Hi, I noticed there's a pretty large backlog, so I decided to volunteer. I've taken a break from my usual editing the past few days to get familiar with the NPR process. I’ve written articles on all sorts of topics, especially biographies, geography. I am requesting for New Page Reviewer right. I have been a Wikipedia editor for 8 years, created several articles and have also been a reader in AFD discussions. Through this, I have gained understanding of the requirements for a new page creation. I have also contributed to delete discussions and I have been known to show respect for others in such discussions. Would appreciate the opportunity to contribute further. Thanks in advance. Ataavi (talk) 15:57, 3 June 2025 (UTC)

Hello, I will like to request new page reviewer rights because I want to assist in the reduction of large backlog at AfC, I edit some new articles at New Page Feeds, I participate in AFD, and have knowledge of deletion process. I have a good knowledge of content policies and guidelines. Chippla ✍️ - Best Regards 17:15, 3 June 2025 (UTC)

Not done. I don't think you have a strong enough command of how CSD works to become an NPR at this time; e.g. the discussion here earlier today. For any future requests, it would be useful to have a CSD log/PROD log — you can enable this in Twinkle. Giraffer (talk) 18:36, 5 June 2025 (UTC)
@Giraffer I have nominated many articles for speedy deletion and you can also check my AFD stats, also I’ve tried to improve a lot of articles instead, I don’t use twinkles for CDS request, many other CSD have gone through, but if you can check my draft log that should help, the thread yesterday was over an existing short text draft that has an article on mainspace already and I’ve fixed it by placing a redirect on it, I believe I meet most of the requirements as I’m already a reviewer at AFC, just that simple issue on my talk page shouldn’t be an issue. You can give me a trial or is there any other issues? Chippla ✍️ - Best Regards 14:44, 6 June 2025 (UTC)
In almost all cases, you should notify the page creator when you place an NPP-related speedy deletion criteria (i.e. not a technical one like R2 or G6). Going through your user talk pages, I see only five instances in which you've done this: yesterday, which was contested by someone other than the page creator; two tags A7 G11 which were declined and draftified; a G11 which was deleted; and a a G11 which you self-reverted on. I only see three non-R2 pages in your deleted contributions besides the one I mentioned previously. To be honest, I haven't looked at other factors—CSD is a major part of NPP work, and given your current record I am not comfortable granting NPR. If you want to reapply, I would recommend you go through WP:NPPS first. Giraffer (talk) 15:23, 6 June 2025 (UTC)
@Giraffer I understand your point but I am experienced, please I need a trial since I’m a review at AFc, I want to help reduce the back log. I’ll appreciate and I’ve taken your feedbacks already. Chippla ✍️ - Best Regards 16:21, 6 June 2025 (UTC)
Many of the A7 I send notifications to page creator, you many not see all my CSD requests because I chose not to use twinkles but many have been deleted. Chippla ✍️ - Best Regards 16:29, 6 June 2025 (UTC)
I can see every (non-suppressed) edit you have made, deleted or not, regardless of whether you use Twinkle. Because you didn't have CSD log, I went through your contributions manually when evaluating this request. I would have come to the same conclusion if you used Twinkle.
AFC and NPP are different processes, and being an AFC reviewer does not entitle you to be an NPR. It is still my view that you are not qualified enough to be an NPR; if another administrator disagrees with my assessment, I hope they will air their thoughts. Giraffer (talk) 16:43, 6 June 2025 (UTC)
@Giraffer I felt bad that you declined only my request here, just few minutes you responded on my usertalk, I just saw this now, Well I will work more on everything you have send, let me know when I can request because I will love you to reevaluate my request because you are an honest admin and I appreciate your time responding to my queries, thank you. Requesting extension of NPP rights. I participated in the WP:MAY25 backlog drive and believe I did well with adding WikiProjects, categories, general cleanup. I have also worked some with the draftify tool and used when necessary. I still participate at AfD regularly and plan to be somewhat consistent reviewing pages, mainly in my fields of knowledge, elections, politicians, some football. Requests for pending changes reviewer

Pending changes reviewer

Reason for requesting pending changes reviewer rights:

To expand my tool belt as an extended confirmed recent changes patroller, and to more quickly afford new users their non policy breaking contribution. I have currently no sanctions against me and I think I understand wiki policy well enough for it. Thank you JamesEMonroe (talk) 20:02, 22 May 2025 (UTC) (Post edit) When using this perm, I will take extra care. I think I have met requirements in WP:PCCRITERIA and have reviewed Wikipedia policy. Also please consider older reverts as well or when I took the time to explain things to new users. JamesEMonroe (talk) 21:27, 22 May 2025 (UTC)

Hi JamesEMonroe! I am not formally granting this permission (nor am I denying it), but I do think you should cut back a bit on the WP:STICKYDECO stuff on your userpage. While I have added the applicable CSS class to make the gadget function, many newbies—who frequently will have complaints when you revert their edits—will be unaware of the ability to tick the box to disable them, and they can be highly annoying/distracting/problematic for editors with sensory issues.

I wouldn't object if another admin chooses to grant the permission, but I wouldn't personally feel comfortable assigning newbie-interaction-heavy advanced permissions with the current amount of sticky decorations. Best regards, HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 02:55, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
Ah, Thank you! As you saw, I tried to add the collapsible boxes as a way for people to disable them (like the "clutter clear ->") as collapsing it would disable the code within. I was planning on making some changes actually, such as rearranging things and improving accessibility a bit, while always importantly keeping the talk page free from anything as it is. I hope it didn't appear unprofessional on me or too annoying.
But I see what you mean as some newer people might not see the boxes. and ill see what I could do. JamesEMonroe (talk) 04:15, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
@JamesEMonroe: On the default skin (Vector 2022) your Einstein gif blocks the "talk" button, the left molecule gif blocks the entire left sidebar, and the gifs on the right side block much of the right sidebar plus the "ClutterClear" button. That disrupts the interface by "preventing important links or controls from being easily seen or used". I would also urge you to fix that. – SilverLocust (Jenson) 06:28, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
Good call. I removed it.
I didn't want to block the user talk page especially JamesEMonroe (talk) 06:43, 3 June 2025 (UTC)

I want to have this permission to reduce the pending changes backlog. I reviewed all the guidelines, such as BLP and the guideline for referencing. I revert good faiths and obvious vandalism and warn the user right after. Although I cannot perform a rollback to the recent changes page to have a consecutive track record due to my device's limited capabilities. I would rather choose pending changes over rollback; with rollback, I must have track records of mass rollback vandalism. But since I understood the guideline of rollback and pending changes, I can assure you that I will be responsible for having this permission. — ArćRèvtalk 10:38, 24 May 2025 (UTC)

Re-requesting the Pending Changes granted by Mz7 to my comprised old account. Ɔþʱʏɾɪʊs 09:56, 3 June 2025 (UTC)

Hi there!

Despite my account having existed since 2009, I only have a modest edit count - and so it is more than reasonable for one to question whether I am a sufficiently experienced Wikipedian to be granted additional privileges.

I am requesting Pending changes reviewer as I believe I have demonstrated a good faith effort to contribute to the project, civility when interacting with other users, and adequate judgement when attempting to discern between deliberate vandalism or well-intentioned mistakes. But more than anything, I seek to find relevant policies and / or guidelines when confronted with a new (to me) situation - and while I endeavour to be WP:BOLD, I am aware of my own limitations and thus I know when to stop and ask others for guidance before proceeding.

If granted Pending changes reviewer I cannot promise I would be a prolific reviewer of pending changes; merely that when reviewing pending changes I would ensure I am doing it because I am confident in my ability to get that decision right, rather than out of boredom or a desire / sense of obligation to make the decision myself.

Thank you very much for your time & consideration.

A little bit ago I made a request (which was declined - account new), I am again requesting this right because:

-My account is now over a month old

-My account is extended confirmed

-Lately, I have run across a lot of fine pending changes edits, but I can not approve them only revert them

As you can see, the main thing I do on Wikipedia is revert vandalism, you noted I should be a little more careful in doing so, which is what I did.

I think this right would allow me to reduce backlog, and do something I like (reverting vandalism) in a different way.

As you can see, I am also requesting the rollback right, which would help me with this process as while as reverting vandalism in general.

Whatever the outcome is, thank you. If it is not done, please provide me with steps I can take to get approved. ExplorerofSpace (talk) 00:29, 5 June 2025 (UTC)
